Didn't know that so thanks - but I know that a lot of schools do this including Uconn which I think generally uses ticket sales and not attendance at the door. Whatever the actual numbers in the arena, it was a big crowd and pretty loud for two thirds of the game.
Every school counts tickets sold, not fannies in the seats. However, Maryland has a system where boosters buy WBB tickets to get points that help them get premier seating at MBB, and football. The majority of these season tickets are never used, and the announced attendance includes over 4,000 no-shows.
