I can't see how they could successfully everything that made that first movie work.I was looking forward to this
Now I’m about ten minutes in and it blows. Has anyone seen the full thing already and should I dump it now?
Confirmed. There's a moving truck in the sequel that says "Waterbury, CT"Fun fact for anybody who didn't know: Happy Gilmore takes place in CT. Can anyone who's seen the sequel confirm if this holds true?
Happy Gilmore 2 was primarily filmed in New Jersey. Lot's of Sandler sightings in Bergen County during the filming.Confirmed. There's a moving truck in the sequel that says "Waterbury, CT"
FWIW....we watched both back to back with the kids (10yo and 12yo) and had plenty of laughs. The nostaligia and family time won over it being mediocre

Sandler has sported UConn garb in the past which is nice. Here's a post from Nicole Nalepa at Channel 3 news

"I spy a WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News microphone & news truck in #AdamSandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2”!!
Have you seen the movie yet? Did you catch this scene?
Apparently, there’s a #WATERBURY reference too!"

It was a Friday night with really nothing else to watch. You knew it would suck. You can't live life with regrets people would've complained if there wasn't a happy Gilmore 2, so this is what you get with a sequel so it is what it is.
The flashbacks from the original were a bit cringe but it's been almost 30 years so I guess you need a refresher. I passed out half way through the movie and didn't wake up till the last 5 minutes, it's highly doubtful I will watch it again unless it's with someone else, in that case I just might fall asleep again lol.
Bob Barker and Chubbs were missed btw god rest their souls.
I rewatched it the other day and my perspective has changed a bit. Of course it was never live up to the original but I really dont think Sandler could've done anything else.I had a similar experience. Got about halfway through and woke up just in time for the final round of play. And I didn't feel any need to rewind.
I may go back to watch just to see how Scheffler ended up in jail, but I'm okay if I never find out how.
Pretty much same. I wouldn't say I "really" enjoyed it, but it wasn't a total waste of time. There were some good laughs in there.I went into Happy Gilmore 2 with very low expectations. Probably because of how mediocre to bad Coming 2 America and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F were, coupled with how bad certain Sandler movies can be.
That said, my family really enjoyed HG2. I won't go into all the reasons why, because it isn't a deep movie. It just made us laugh a little, but also just genuinely smile.
