I was looking forward to this

Now I’m about ten minutes in and it blows. Has anyone seen the full thing already and should I dump it now?

I can't see how they could successfully everything that made that first movie work.

The first was obviously a cult classic from my college days and I was irritated that they made a second but pretty much everything now is a sequel, prequel or spinoff so I figured it was inevitable. I made it through but it’s mainly recycled jokes with 100 cameos mixed in. There are some funny parts but it’s impossible to follow the first one.

Loved the original. This was only watchable for the nostalgia, cameos, and callbacks. Not good by any means but I was able to get through the whole thing.

Fun fact for anybody who didn't know: Happy Gilmore takes place in CT. Can anyone who's seen the sequel confirm if this holds true?

Sandler is believed to have signed the deal with Netflix initially in 2020 for four films, to the tune of $250 million. So the film is a success for Sandler regardless of it's quality.

It was a Friday night with really nothing else to watch. You knew it would suck. You can't live life with regrets people would've complained if there wasn't a happy Gilmore 2, so this is what you get with a sequel so it is what it is.

The flashbacks from the original were a bit cringe but it's been almost 30 years so I guess you need a refresher. I passed out half way through the movie and didn't wake up till the last 5 minutes, it's highly doubtful I will watch it again unless it's with someone else, in that case I just might fall asleep again lol.

Bob Barker and Chubbs were missed btw god rest their souls.

Confirmed. There's a moving truck in the sequel that says "Waterbury, CT"

FWIW....we watched both back to back with the kids (10yo and 12yo) and had plenty of laughs. The nostaligia and family time won over it being mediocre

I thought it was a fun guilty pleasure, everything you would expect from an Adam Sandler movie. It is worth watching just for the joke with the Jack Nicklaus cameo.

Watched it with my boys (13 and 11) and we enjoyed it. I’ll second the post by RichctBB that it’s a good movie to get the family together if you like silly humor.

Definitely worth watching. Good to see a good comedy with no politics and lots of cameos. Story line was pretty good too.

I liked it. Like others have said, it was a fun watch with some nostalgia from the first one and good cameos. Daly killed it. Bad Bunny was surprisingly funny. It felt like an appropriate time between the 2 movies and a good sequel (when so many others are awful).

Maybe it was the ridiculously low expectations that I had or maybe it was the handful of gummies I consumed before watching, but I thought the movie was funny. There were definitely some gags that didn't land, but there was enough there to make it work. As others mentioned, John Daly was a riot.

Happy Gilmore 2 was primarily filmed in New Jersey. Lot's of Sandler sightings in Bergen County during the filming.

Sandler has sported UConn garb in the past which is nice. Here's a post from Nicole Nalepa at Channel 3 news

"I spy a WFSB - Channel 3 Eyewitness News microphone & news truck in #AdamSandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2”!!
Have you seen the movie yet? Did you catch this scene?
Apparently, there’s a #WATERBURY reference too!"

Agree about the family time and my 2 boys (teenagers) and I give it 3 thumbs up. Sure, it won't win an Oscar but it was typical Sandler fun and the cameos, flashbacks, and references to his other movies made it enjoyable.

In the same movie where he had a UConn Football hat, he also wore Whalers, BU, Maine and a few others. He was just being cool to New England and showing some regional pride.

Former PGA tour player Hunter Mahan was the stunt double for Sandler. Good interview with him on the subpar podcast about shooting the movie

I went into Happy Gilmore 2 with very low expectations. Probably because of how mediocre to bad Coming 2 America and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F were, coupled with how bad certain Sandler movies can be.

That said, my family really enjoyed HG2. I won't go into all the reasons why, because it isn't a deep movie. It just made us laugh a little, but also just genuinely smile.
