Usually a team with that record is a real kick ass team. Scary.
Did any of you think they were a scary, dominant team? I don't think so.
....
I only caught a few minutes of the game, but I'm not surprised by the outcome. People tend to forget about the ebb and flow that teams go through throughout a season. It just seems that SU has hit a wall. They have been very good and deep throughout most of the season, but doesn't it seem that the games of Joseph, Fair and Jardine have fallen off dramatically?
Maybe SU will get re-energized once the NCAA begins and go on a roll, but right now they look extremely vulnerable.
On a side note, Sutherland went 1-7 and 1-5 from 3 in 23 minutes. If he did that yesterday we would have been the team that faced Cincy today.
I have a feeling that -4 and NC is again up for grabs for 3 seeds and lower. I don't feel any of the top 8 teams are all dominant teams. As much as I don't like UK and the Squid, they are scary good, but youth tends to rear its ugly head in the Tournament. Setting UK aside, I wouldn't be surprised if whatever other 3 teams end up #1 seeds don't make it to the last week of the tournament. Yeah, since none advanced that far last season, that doesn't sound like a reach. It just seems the so called dominant teams just aren't that dominant. UNC can score, but can they defend? Mizzu is fun to watch, but I wonder if a slow-it-down team like ND could give them fits. KU is an interesting team that seems to have gotten better as the season has gone on and might be peaking at the right time. (
I spoke too soon. Just saw that Baylor took out KU in the Big-12 tourney.)
Should be another fun tournament. I can't wait till it starts.
