Right, because any worthwhile fan should be expressing his eagerness to continue rooting for more of what we've seen the last two years.... I guess 5-7 with losses to WMU and Temple is our new definition of success.

Rome wasn't built in a day - he has a plan and he's the professional. You are not.

The world's full of people getting paid for poor performance. Lindsey Lohan's a professional too.

Lindsey Lohan's a crack whore. You're saying Warde's a crack whore now too?

Just trying to figure out the rules of debate. We can criticize actors but not coaches? FWIW, I'm not really down on Warde - just PP. Warde saying "I hear the fans and this is what I'm doing" is taking ownership and serving notice. I'm good with that.

I think Ward all but had to bring P back. That said, I think there is better than even money that GDL does not come back as the OC. If he does, P will be gone after next season.

I do suspect Ward is struggling big time. The Ollie contract is borderline crazy and I have to believe Ward can't figure out a way to manage Calhoun, which, in fairness, cannot be an easy task. As for losing the invite to the ACC to Louisville, unless Herbst and Ward knew they had an invite to the BiG in their hand, and I don't believe they did, they got their lunch eaten. They could not drop that one and they did, while drinking on the beach. Big, big screw up.

Ward better figure out real fast that this fanbase is used to and expects performance. Given the ACC debacle it would not surprise me if he is a short timer if someone has to take the fall for that. You can be sure it won't be Herbst.

Looking at the schedule, they will beat towson and lose to Michigan, MD, Louisville, Rutgers, syracuse, Pittsburgh. At buffalo and temple are tossups. they better schedule UMass and hope they get Memphis and houston or it could be a three-win season.

I don't think a person manages Calhoun, merely tries to contain him a little

I thought/hoped that plan that involved improving UConn sports. I was wrong.

UConn was never Rome - UConn is an outpost , a trip-wire to slow down the invading barbarians.

So you seem to agree with my current thinking, Job 1 for Warde right now is setting up his next job somewhere else.

So the sales pitch to prospective coaches would be: "hey come to a Basketball school in a small New England State where high school talent is sparse and recruiting will be an uphill battle...and by the way, you better win in two years because we fire coaches who haven't had the chance to coach their first recruits as red-shirt sophomores. How could you dream of staying in your current position where you are a name on the rise and pass up on this opportunity?". Did i mention all of your local D-I neighbors play in power conferences? So as you can clearly see, 2 years is plenty of time!

They will be beating down the doors to get in line........ There is a reason you can count the number of BCS head coaches fired in less than 2.5 seasons on one hand. It is expensive and it sends a bad message to potential replacements.

Hey hey! Easy there with that common sense around here you might upset some people
