I agree with SAE. I'd like to know what is taking so long. Warde has shown a penchant for delay and inaction. My perception is that that delay and inaction resulted in Louisville and not UConn getting Maryland's spot in the ACC. I'm concerned that further delay and inaction now is going to lead to Coach Ollie leaving. If there is something that proves my perception to be wrong.....I'd love to see it.
Do people honestly believe that Warde Manual hasn't already offered Kevin Ollie an extremely lucrative contract extension?
We try and read the tea leaves all the time, but this one doesn't seem too hard to figure out. Ollie isn't going to sign a new deal until he has a sense of what's available to him in the NBA. It's going to take time before the NBA dust is settled. We don't even know of all the jobs that will be open when all is said and done, let alone what those teams are willing to pay. If Ollie brings a firm NBA offer back to the negotiating table, he gets himself more money from Uconn.
And regarding recruiting, Daniel Hamilton, Prince Ali, and Turtle Jackson haven't signed anything binding them to Uconn and they could go to any school they want. If they didn't like the vibe they were getting regarding Ollie's commitment to the program, they would no longer be committed to Uconn.
