While they are in negotiations I can't blame either side for being coy and playing it close to the vest; and I'll reserve judgment until I see their acts.
In the meantime, my spidey sense is still that KO definitely wants to stay here for the near and medium terms, and maybe even for the long haul. But he is being wise and taking his time to understand the market for his services and what his options are so he can better value them both now and in the future.
I mean, no matter how loyal and true the guy is, he would be foolish not to understand that his market value right now may well be the best it ever gets, at least in terms of how well he has performed against expectations up to this point and what the fair value of that gap is, all things considered.
As I've said before, no matter what the strategy, I don't think it would kill UConn for Warde to put out a statement that at least gives a status and some encouragement. Even a tweet, like KO did when the pressure of the Lakers rumors mounted, would probably go a long way to help create the impression that he's doing every thing he can to get this done asap.
