I'm curious though, what's the success rate of college coaches coaching in the NBA? I know a lot have tried, but how many have been successful?
Off the top of my head:
Brad Stevens - wunderkind who had pretty much immediate success with the Celtics. Maybe didn't get through to the players as much in his later years and wanted a change in lifestyle. Moved to the front office and there is no doubting his basketball acumen.
Billy Donovan - has had two pro jobs since 2016. In my observations his reputation has seemed to fluctuate a bit, but there is no doubt he has been successful.
Fred Hoiberg - didn't work out
Rick Pitino - didn't work out
I would be surprised if Hurley went to the NBA.
