UVU leaving the conference but refuses to pay exit fee
WAC suing them and has banned all their teams from conference tournaments. Their 1st place MCBB team (which has never made the NCAAs) now wont make it this year either.

The problem with these Westerners is that they don't have enough folks who share my cultural heritage.

We would just send them a fish wrapped in newspaper or a horse's head (or Willy the Wolverine's head), and this problem would be resolved.

.-.
Anyone read, or better understand, Utah Valley’s purported legal justification for not paying the WAC exit fee? I looked, but found no supporting articles.

Separately, Utah Valley announced their planned exit from the current WAC before 2 other Utah schools subsequently announced their planned WAC departures. If those 2 Utah schools paid the WAC to exit, it’s challenging to understand Utah Valley’s argument. Or, even solid negotiating position for a lower exit fee.

The WAC only has seven members right now. When Utah Valley announced they were leaving, the conference wasn’t really viable. They formulated a plan to merge with the existing ASUN football playing members to form the United Athletic Conference.

That conference is basically three Texas schools and some southeastern schools. Having two members out in Utah wasn’t desirable so they worked out a deal with Utah Tech and Southern Utah to let them withdraw this year and join the Big Sky.

I am guessing Utah Valley wants that deal, but they actually withdrew from the conference and set some of this in motion, so I’m not sure their logic holds.

The WAC shouldn't even exist at this point. Same is true for one of the PAC-12 or Mountain West.
