Villanova Post Game Thread

And totally redeemed themselves! Garbage ending made this game look a lot closer than it was. The offense should have had ten more than what they put up. Ross WTF pass to Reed under the basket showed his skittishness, but he had some straight up lock down posessions mixed with some completely blown assignments. Just keep feeding him minutes and hopefully he evens out.
Silas needs to understand that this is a completely different offense when Riebe is in. We missed Eric on so many rolls. Completely underutilized him in general. He was excellent, and showed really good hands.
Normally I would give a 40+ % 3pt shooter the green light, but heck if AK misses over the last two games really killed momentum.
Overall it's a game that Villanova had nothing going and shot most of their 3s at the end of the clock. I am sure they watched our tape, and were told to attack the rim with everyone. Glad they waited until 3 mins left to start doing that. Nothing glaringly bad, we still make too many self inflicted mistakes but good one to right the ship.

Very nice bounce back win. Defense did a better job overall.

Clean up the unforced turnovers, just a little more consistently tenacious on the boards (we gave up 3-4 rebounds Nova had no excuse getting to), and cut with purpose on inbounds, and we’re REALLY cooking again.

Hurley just admitted that he has mismanaged the bench. Nice to see the bench step up. We won’t go very far without those four guys!!!

It's a good way to take the heat off the players.

Bench players played loose tonight.

Riebe had a couple of moves and scores that most freshmen seven footers can't do.

This game really highlighted one of Reibe’s best traits…. He has otherworldly hands for a big. He saves so many iffy or bad entry passes. Can’t think of another freshman big I’ve watched that has hands like that.
Yep, he's going to be a great one. You can't teach his hands and ability around the rim. His outside game is real too.

A note about Malachi: what is the point of other players moving/hard cutting when he's at the 3pt line? The manner in which he dribbles there will never allow us to cash in on off ball action. Long crossovers, high pounds, eyes looking away, etc. You can't ask the team to run the stuff when you decide to engage randomly. Everything when he is on the court is adlibbed. He can make some things happen for sure, but generally disables our offense.
