Villanova post game thread

UConn wins by 17 and bench scoring was 19-2 in UConn's favor. I have no idea how this affects tonight's game against Creighton but it seems relevant.
Ashworth really didn’t play the OTs I think he fouled out pretty early in the first. Kalk though played the entire extra 10. Throwing Samson and tarris at him would be the way to go

True - but they were also behind the whole game and had to maximize effort every possession to get back in it. Neal played all 50. Wouldn’t mind seeing him front rim a few.

Adian was key tonight. Hassan clearly struggled and adian playing those minutes and playing them well allowed him to rest and be ready in the second half.
He has skills. But he never puts 2 good games in a row this season. He can change that. I know many have written him off, but the book isn't finished on him.

Stewart came in, committed a boneheaded foul outside the 3 point line within 10 seconds and then proceeded to be pretty awesome for the rest of the night. Glad to see Mahaney really step up as well.
Well, except for that bone headed goaltend too.

When Poplar was going off I was saying we really miss a Castle type, who they could put on anyone except a center and he would shut them down. Can Stewart provide that lock down type of flexible defender?
He is really turning into it. He even played Dixon well when switched on to him. I really love his dedication to improving his D. I'm sure Hurely told him to get more minutes he needs to improve there. He has the athletic ability and just need the mindset. Let's hope he keeps playing great D as he is so versatile and can play 1-5 at times on D. He was +19 when on the court only beeaten by Karaban at +21.

The key tonight was he wasn’t hesitant. He was confident with the ball knew what he wanted to do and did it. He also didn’t pass up shots when he was open.
Ironically, his only mistake followed the one time he was hesitant and didn’t shoot (he had just missed his last one … but got open again). Then he dribbled into trouble and threw it away trying to make a post feed from a tough angle.

Hopefully there’s a lesson in that he can take from it. Just stay confident. Don’t let the last play affect the next one.

He destroyed Dixon whenever he guarded him this season.
