I hope tonight was enough for DH to loosen the leash he has on Jaylin, you can't watch him and Jayden play basketball and think their minutes should be split/shared, Jaylin just has way more game and feel. Jayden needs another offseason of seasoning and development.
It's crazy, Jaylin is a much better basketball player.

AK wasn't fouled on the shot, but he was on the drive which wasn't called. Granted it there wouldn't have been free throws, although that didn't end up mattering.

Ross looked calm and deliberate for a few minutes around when he made that three and I was hoping it would translate into a better game for him, then he reverted back to his usual self.

It's unfortunate if Ross is such a great practice player, you want to reward that, but you need to produce in games too. Stewart is simply a better game player for whatever reason, especially in the bigger games and when he gets the minutes.

I agree Diarra should have taken that wide open 3, but be honest, most people here would be complaining if he had and missed it, saying he's not a clutch player. Same if Ball had taken it to the rim and got stuffed. I would have rather seen some play to get the ball to Reed in the block if possible, he would have absolutely been hacked, maybe getting an and one.

Yep, made progress. He had a nice 3 and was one of the only players willing to try to take it into the lane when the offense stagnated on a few occasions in both halves. 3 rebounds. Overplayed on D and got burnt but that’s still gonna happen. Didn’t finish the one drive but yes, progress.

He was discussed and dissed ad nauseum in the other thread.

Positive vibes, my friend. Enjoy the ride.
He went one on three and got eaten alive and he drove right into a defender and lost the ball.

AK wasn't fouled on either of them. He got bailed out and then bricked them.

AK played a poor game by his standard.

I would not change a thing concerning Alex. Nothing to second guess here. He missed free throws that he usually makes. Tough loss.

Stewart was a huge positive. He needs to be in the mix. Solo is pure. Absolutely love the assists. We can still get a lot better, and yet I have no doubt we are one of the best teams in the country, especially when Liam comes back. Next.

I blame Diarra for the ending. He was open for 3 off the inbound with about 12-15 seconds left and he passed it. Should've taken the shot- he probably would have made it.

Don't understand why the ball wasn't in Solo hand for the last shot. He's the only one that can create for himself and others. Karaban is a catch and shoot guy. You run him off the 3pt line he become a deer in headlights. He had a clear path to the basket when we were up 2 earlier in the game and turned the ball over.

I had a bad feeling going in. Even the last couple years when we were a lot better than Nova, they played us tough. They always seem to give us a game.
I had the same feeling but I never ever expected it to happen that way. The whole team really came back though at the end. Just a hell of a way to lose.

I would have rather been down 2. It seems like a three wasn't even an option because we were only down 1 and we didn't run "our offense"

It didn't have to be a three, just an open guy on the perimeter.

They had good defense on both drive attempts and nobody seemed to try to get open for a shot on the perimeter.

You could tell that was the designed play.

We have shooters, why not just move the ball around and get a good open shot.

Who am I to question coach Hurley? It was a close game and we definitely had our chances.

I hate doing the holier than thou thing, but some of you need to remember who you're talking about here. Alex has made more big and clutch shots than most players in our history, tough shots to miss, but let's not lose perspective.
It’s not that, it’s just that we can get a better shot than those 2 AK drives that went straight to the rim when he has been struggling for the majority of the night, it’s not a strength of his game and they both got PUNCHED

I would have gotten Reed the ball on the block and had the rest of the team crash the glass on a miss.

that drive and turnover was right as Solo(not 100% sure it was him) was about to come off of a screen, DH got on him about it at the next dead ball timeout when he was heading to the huddle.

Anyone else suddenly have bad Donyell Marshall flashbacks!
Reminded me a little of Donyell’s miss, but the stakes were much higher with Donyell’s miss. There was no one else we would want at the line as Donyell made 20 FTs in a row in the game against St.John’s earlier that season. I also thought of RJ Cole’s FT misses in the 2020 season against Creighton- that was a choke job.
