It was great! The camera on the bus with players was great, and they seemed to be genuinely amped up over the crowd. They’ll never forget it.

I really think Donovan is the biggest/most popular Connecticut athlete ever. Most of the greatest all-time athletes from the state Steve Young, Dwight Freeney, Marcus Camby, Calvin Murphy, Brian Leetch, Jeff Bagwell etc. didn't go to UConn and guys like Chris Smith and Scott Burrell didn't cut down the nets.

There's just something about this kid with his great personality, personal story, always repping Connecticut, mammoth size, and awesome ability that makes him special. He wasn't scheduled to speak today and the crowd and his teammates weren't going to let him not speak. He got the biggest cheers out of anyone. There's much more special things ahead for Donovan next season and onward...

This is pretty great, the party is continuing on Pratt Street!
A great bash. Unlike normal sporting events. Everyone was on the same side and ready to party....and drinking/smoking in the streets was given a pass for the day.

I curious as to how many were at the '99 parade. Was that the largest ?
For 99 parade Courant reported this:

At least 175,000 people crammed into the city for the parade, police Lt. Anthony Camilleri said. State Capitol police said between 250,000 to 270,000 people turned out.
