My Dad "jumped out of perfectly good airplanes" from 1950-1953. He always said that he felt safer OUTSIDE of the airframe, as he did not trust the planes they were jumping out of back in the day. He has 3 weeks left in the Army when the Korean Conflict went hot, and chose to get out and marry my Mom.My father was at Camp Geiger and Cherry Point around the same time. He was an AARF crash crew member driving a crash truck. His tour was in the '51 to '53 time frame. Very fortunate not to be deployed to Korea. A number of guys he went through boot camp with did come back.
