It will be interesting. It will be a full house but I'm not expecting the building to rock because I don't expect the game to lend itself to much drama, and I don't expect many students to be there. You usually need at least one of those two to make for an electric game environment. I think there will be a lot of families and a lot of older people--kind of like a women's game crowd. The timing could not have been better for people to use this as a nice, novel holiday family event, and I think that's what a lot of the attendees will have in mind.

It won't be rocking by any means, season tickets for students doesn't even include this game.

Even if students were there, or if it was held at Gampel, it wouldn't be rocking. It's UConn vs. Eastern Washington.

That's probably true, but with such a big family crowd--many of whom I imagine are not frequent attendees--on a holiday weekend afternoon, I think there is an opportunity for a well-prepared venue to capitalize on the attention and make a show of it. Especially so if they are trying to show themselves as a worthy alternative to the XL Center for a few games on a semi-regular basis and gain an upper hand on the casino in that competition.

I went to the adjacent ball park for a few Bluefish games with my kids in the first few years it was open and I couldn't tell you a thing about any of the games, except that the venue kept the crowd distracted and engaged with all sorts of nonsense in between the action, and got them riled up pretty easily. So I am interested to see if the Arena does anything special to try to drum up excitement.

Ten of my family members will be there since there back in CT for the week, the ten of them fresh out of the bar befor the game might look and sound like the student section during the Florida game.

The only seats available are $215 seats. Is there anywhere to go to find them cheaper?

I hope you're wrong. We get rowdy down south. It's Yankees and Giants territory in these parts. Championship pedigree fans reverence our Champions including our beloved Huskies.

We'll shock the State!

The building kind of reminds me of the Dunkin Donuts Center. Makes sense, both are home to minor league hockey and minor league hoops (Fairfield.)

Everyone seems to be really happy to be here, just like in Hartford (or not).

No student section kinda makes it lack a punch. Grownups don't know when to cheer?

Bingo. Early Saturday afternoon, and a poor opponent on a holiday weekend. Just not an inspiring matchup but better in Bridgeport than either of the other options. Hope they get a decent conference game next time at night. Bridgeport does have a good feel to it when the team plays well. Girls games proved that. Way better than XL.

The atmosphere was solid but it is like amateur hour here. The staff, parking, facilities, etc., are totally unprepared for 10,000 fans. Gampel looks like Grand Central compared to this.

Not surprised, its a traffic jam for any concert. UConn will make demands that will be answered if Bridgeport wants to continue hosting a game. With that said the crowd turnout was as I expected, fully supportive (seat wise). A better/challenging opponent would makes things a little more noisy.

Huskies are really loved down here in Fairfield County.

The atmosphere inside was fine. The place was packed and fans wanted to be into the game. The sight lines are great and acoustics are great. A well played, competitive game would be loud.

What was not grata was the traffic coming in, it took me 22 minutes from exit off 95 to park my car. Absurd. And the concessions lines were so long you'd miss ten minutes of the game. Basically the place is not equipped to have 9k+ fans at this point. I left as game ended and still have yet to move in the parking garage.

So, no different than Gampel or the XL. Go figure.

I parked the car again and went inside to the Irish pub for a pint before returning to my car.

Its been brought up before but I absolutely agree that not having a student section took some of the bite out of the atmosphere in Bridgeport today. Yes the crowd got pretty loud at some points during the game...I would say the high point was the Giffey dunk in the 2nd half, but overall like i posted before it reminded me of an XL crowd. Bottom line was they sold a ton of tickets and it was a financial success and I think thats really all that counts and im pretty sure we will see another game in Bridgeport next year and beyond
