I had been withholding judgment on Vandy after they beat up OK at home in their last game. But tonight I became a true believer as the Commodores absolutely exposed the Longhorns at both ends of the court.

Everyone has been talking about a FF rematch with UConn, SC, UCLA & TX. But Vandy looks very much like a team that’s capable of crashing that party.

Shea has something brewing at Vandy. This was a statement game for Vandy.

It was also a statement game for Texas but in a negative sense. They were taken out of the game in the 1st quarter.

I'm not sure Texas is as good as the experts say. Same as last year.

Vandy took Texas to the woodshed!! That was an old fashion beatdown and Mikayla Blakes. If she was on a high-profile team, she would be getting National Player of the Year mentions. Congrats, Coach Ralph and Vandy. Huge win. I can't wait to watch this game again later.

Nevertheless beating #4 is a feather. And Texas beat SC by 2 then lost to them by only 3. Lost to LSU by only 5. No small feat. I'm fairly impressed.
I'm happy to give Vandy props, but I'm not that surprised that on a good day they could compete and actually beat Texas.......

Fascinating game to watch. Vandy now officially for real with wins over Michigan, Oklahoma, LSU and Texas! Shea's team arrives one year early and that's without Pierre. (now at NC St)

Blakes a player of the year candidate, but the two keys to the win were:
1- play of the freshman point guard Galvan.
2- Vandy outrebounded TX.

Shea Ralph doing some serious coaching. When they run offense via Galvan it's the ol Oregon offense with Ionescu. When they run with Blakes, it's the Notre Dame offense with Miles, Citron, Hidalgo.

She even got 12 useful minutes from big DelRosario. Rather than complain about what she can't do, Shea switches the defence during the DelRosario minutes to play to her strength as a rim protector. This forced TX to change up, and allowed Vandy starting front line to get some rest.

No break for Vandy though, they still face Kentucky, bama and Tenn plus SEC tourney. Keep winning, and they now have chance at a #1 seed.

In my opinion, I think offensively Blakes is every bit as good as Strong, and Galvan is offensively better than UConn's point guards, except when Fudd plays the point. I wonder if she was ranked in the top 25 of 2025 recruits. Shea got a jewel in Galvan. I have watched a number of Vanderbilt's games, and both always impress me. Now, if Strong played four quarters a game. I am with others who are not sold on Texas. Play a zone against them and they will definitely struggle and Booker better add a three-point shot to her game or she will struggle in the WNBA. The game was enjoyable to watch, and I am so glad for Shea Ralph.

I am still not a huge believer in Vandy. They really let me down when they destroyed my bracket last year.
Completely different team this year. Their chemistry is off the charts. Galvan is a huge upgrade at point guard, Sacha Washington is back, Pissott is much improved and Blakes is making a strong case for NPOY.
