Unfortunately with so many teams in the conference now, there are a lot of players that will be left out. Madison Booker was the only player from Texas that got voted onto 1st or 2nd team. When your team is 9th you’re probably not going to get 2. Blakes was 1st team so…There’s no doubt Pierre is a great player and is vital to their success, IDK who they would take off to put her in.

Where the SEC voters failed to recognize her, national voters haven't. Pierre is a finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award, along with Sarah Strong, Sonia Citron, Madison Booker and Mikayla Williams.

Elite group of players but an odd selection for that particular award IMO. I’d consider Williams to be more of an SG and Strong and Pierre to be more PFs but maybe I’m mistaken.

Honestly, I don't know either. I had made the same comment to a friend with respect to Citron as she's a guard to me. However, players like Bridget Carleton and Ashely Joens have won this award. Maybe this award category offers some flexibility with respect to who is considered for nomination?

So happy for Shea, her staff and players. They have put in the work. Into the meat grinder tomorrow but excellent progress for the program.
