It was 38. I was hoping for 40. She left me disappointed. ;)

After missing Friday's game Maddie Washington was participating in warmups today. Has been a starter most of the season and is a more mobile defender than Grymek. Huff will of course still be a very tough match up, but OSU's depth was getting fairly thin w/out Washington.

.-.
Bean was a total non factor after being a hero against Stanford.

To be fair pretty much all of the Utes other than Huff were non factors. Moore had been playing well since becoming a starter and they've had 3 freshmen contributing regularly, but Huff got almost no help on Friday.

Goodman starting in place of Washington again. Small lineup for OSU. Edwards could have an advantage for Utah.

So Utah decided to show up today. A pair of quick 3's for Bean and Moore.

OSU is putrid so far. 11-2 Utes at first media TO. Pathetic.

13-8 Utah at the end of Q1. UGLY.

Slocum is in hero ball mode. Too much dribbling.

.-.
I had to quit watching. OSU is 2-16 from the floor. Just horrible.

Huh. Not watching worked wonders. Tied at 28 at halftime. Slocum had 4 last I saw, now she has 18 on 8-11 shooting. I think she's scored their last 16 points. The rest of the team has to wake up in the 2nd half don't they?

Come on NW, I need your commentary as my free subscription to Sling ran out. Hang in there...

Nah, can't do it. OSU was up 6, but then Utah came back and went up 2.

.-.
Tied at 51 at the end of Q3. Corosdale and McWilliams have stepped up in the 2nd half it looks like. Everybody else still quiet.

I depend on downloading the Pac-12 app, using my 5 minutes, deleting, then redownloading. This seriously may be worth it for 4Q.

62-56 OSU. Huff has 16 for Utes, only player in double figures. Slocum w/ 20 and Pivec w/ 11 for OSU.

Pivec shooting FTs after final media TO, Beavs up 64-57. 3:51 left. OSU on an 11-1 run.

Beavs had been up 8, Utah has a chance to cut it to 2 or 1 now. Crap.

.-.
OSU has the ball and they can run the clock out. Utah has fouls to give.

Okay, now OSU in the bonus. 67-63 28.1 seconds left.

edit--Goodman drills both 69-63

That should do it. 6 pt lead for OSU with 0:27 left

OSU D board, more FTs coming for Goodman. 12.8 sec left. Probably hit 1 and it's over.

71-63. Tense game. OSU is good but they have a fairly thin margin for err. Next 4 @ Stanford, @ Cal, @ Oregon, home vs. Oregon. They'll probably be fortunate to go 2-2 over that stretch.

For now the 2 Oregon schools are #1 and #2 in the Pac 12 standings.

Slocum went on a tear after being cold in the first quarter. What was probable not noticed is what got her going. She scored four drives to the hoop, three of which were set up by some really good picks by Grymek. That got her going. Slocum really uses picks well. I think she might be the only beaver who does.

With Washington on limited minutes (illness), SR tried the same small lineup as the Colorado game. Utah scouted that game well and shut down OSU's offense. Putting in Grymek gave Slocum a lot more room to work, and whenever either Washington or Grymek was in, Pivec had a lot more options, too. Utah killed OSU on the boards when Washington was out (11 second-chance points) - Maddie had 5 boards in the last 5 minutes, which made all the difference in the end.

OSU is also short Janessa Thropay, who was the starting 5 at the beginning of the season. I think that if Washington had played her usual 25-30 minutes, or Janessa had been available, it would have been a very different game. Credit Utah for taking advantage.
