Different role, but hopefully some of the youth can move him on out.

Not at all. Long term he projects as a defensive midfielder. Given the fact that McKennie and him are probably starting and McKennie is best placed in a box to box role, that is where Tyler would most likely line up.

Bradley is not a DM. They have been trying to play him as a Pirlo, as opposed to Adams as a Gattuso.

He is a DM now. Remember when everyone was crying because Jürgen didn’t use him in that role?

He is better suited as a box to box though.

No he's not a DM. He's supposed to be playing a HM.

In our “system” those are basically the same thing. In a 4-3-3 you usually have a hm, box to box and an attacking mid.

I really don’t care what MB is or is supposed to be. I don’t even want him as a water boy.

AO Hartford will be at Tavern for the game tomorrow. Discounted beer and good times to be had!

Wait, what? We have a "system"?

Relax, he's on his way out. Would you rather Trapp?

No Trapp isn’t good enough either. Go with McKennie, Pulisic and Adams in a three man midfield and I am good. Trapp is a third choice at best at his position.

The team played a very good second half after an awful first half.

With the exception of one horrid TO, Trapp looked okay especially on long lead out passes.

When will we see a camp with players who will actually be our future? Will it be this summer after the European leagues finish?

Likely the March Camp. US Soccer just announced a game on Mach 21st in Orlando against Ecuador While Euroope soccer will still be going strong, both the 2019 Gold Cup (North America) and Copa America (South America) are right around the corner with a mid-Juen start. Thus, it will be time, I hope, to stop experementing and to get a team together. For the match, I expect both squads to have primarily A team starters on the roster supplemented by a couple of B team players who may sniff A team action.

USMNT Borderline Players: Zimmerman, Rodan, Mihailovic, Lletget, & J Lewis while I already consider Steffen to be on the A team list

Special note: I would not be surprised to see Tim Howard on this roster to give him a proper send-off before retirement.

The next camp should have been in Europe to make it easy to integrate the European based players into the squad.

This last camp was a waste. Most of the players in camp had very limited futures in the program. A few of them weren’t even starters in MLS.

Yup, this camp has always been a USSF/SUM cash grab with a bunch of no hopers.
9000 and 13,000. Not sure how much cash they grabbed.

You don't get any of the European based players because the clubs are not required to release them due to these Jan games not being on the FIFA calendar. The March break allows for players to play for their countries. So we should get an example of what Berhalter intends to do in March.

In the grand scheme, $9K or $13K is pretty small potatoes. But, perhaps not if that’s what each Jan camp player is paid. For many (most?) 20-24 year old, US-based players, ~15-20% of annual comp may be a decent sack of cash.

Actually the 9000 and 13000 were attendance numbers. Meaning it doesn't seem like SUM/USSoccer made a whole lot of money on this camp. Of course there is also the TV revenue.

Not sure how much the players get for being called into camp. Read somewhere a couple years ago that they get like $5000 for making a roster. ???

Oh, duh on my misinterpretation of the unclear 9-13K figure. Setting that aside, $5K's a pretty good cash grab for many of the 20-24 year old MLS kids/guys maybe earning $50K tops

Here's a few of the salaries of the players who played in the recent games
Steffen - $145,000
Lima - $93,000
Long - $73,000
Lovitz - $86,000
Zimmerman - $235,000
Trapp - $500,000
Baird - $54,000
Mihailivic - $96,000
Roldan - $154,000
Lletget - $240,000
Lewis - $90,000

Baird is really the only one down at the minimum.

We will put together our A team for the Gold Cup, and that's when they have real time together (as opposed to the 10 or 11 days they get in their fall and spring windows.

They don't need the multi-week "camp" to grab cash. They just have to come together for a week and play two games, like all the other windows. Zoo's negativity at times is just silly.

The purpose of the camp has always been primarily to develop those younger players who are still playing in the states, and do look at long term "possibles" who won't get the call ups when our European based players are available. I'm sure it served it's purpose for the new coach. Barring a rash of injuries I'd be surprised if anyone beyond Steffen and maybe Zimmerman had a material role to play in the two March games when the Europeans are available.

Those are shocking numbers. I have paralegals who would be in the top earning half of that group.
