I used to not be a very big soccer fan, made fun of it, it turns out I just wasn't watching very good soccer. A couple of world cups later and having the Primere league easily accessable means I'm much more into soccer.

I agree that quality is important to the.viewing experience. Watching two squads play pinball across the pitch isn't very entertaining. I'll usually have the BPL on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Beats the heck out of FB and BB pregame shows.

I know what you're saying. I never cared for it and my best friend in HS was an all-conference player. I learned to like it at UConn. First day of classes my freshman year, my senior roommate told me that after class we're going to the soccer game. I hemmed and hawwed and he said "We're going." I went and when we got there his buddy had a keg ready in the stands and a sleeve of red cups. Hooray Soccer!

The thing that kills me about people making fun of soccer (like Jim Rome) is that these same people will want to talk to you about golf or NASCAR or even, hell, tennis!

Hey, now, please don't use the world golf and NASCAR in the same sentence.

Golf is fantastic.

Rochester somehow screwed their chance to get an MLS team. Hard to believe what went down there.

What went down in Rochester that screwed their chance for an MLS team? I know they were mentioned as a possible expansion location, but was there serious interest from the league. This all took place long before the plan to build smaller, soccer specific stadiums.

My friend and former UCONN captain played for the CT Wolves when they were A-League. The Rochester road trip was the whole team's favorite game of the year ... best attended game in the league by far ... 20k fans in Frontier Field for almost every game. I don't think the Wolves drew that many fans over the course of the entire season.

We're you on the Wolves when Valderrama came to town?

You had to love the pitcher's mound in the middle of the field.

I was never on the wolves ... but I went to a bunch of games. I don't remember Valderrama too well ... must have been US Open Cup ... or I tailgated too hard. I do remember the NE Revolution coming to New Britain as part of the US Open Cup ... but none of the stars played. No Lalas, JM Moore, Mike Burns etc ...

Spurs having one heck of a game right now in Euro's. Wow!!

This game was an example of why teams competing for a champions league spot next year often play reserves in the Europa League this year. The team has to be spent for the weekend after playing 120. Oh, and now there are 2 more games to play, if not 5!

And Modric was gone no matter what with that offer, though he has not set the world on fire in Madrid.

And Lazio fans are offended by using the word quasi before fascist, there is no quasi there, as Yid fans in Rome can attest to.

As a Liverpool fan, I love Walker. Thanks again Spurs!

What a cute little second-tier club you all have.
Liverpool will never walk alone.....because they will always be mid-table . COYS!!

Progrocks: Just to let you know ....uh....soccer blows. And as a Mets fan I am stripping you of your Mr Met avatar as a penalty.

Awful showing by Spurs, but nearly certainly AVB certainly didn't have our best line-up out there. At least we're moving on. And yes, I'm terrified that we'll have tired legs vs Fulham.

Gallas had a tough day yesterday. At least Bale will be well rested. Any word on if Dempsey is fit to play Sunday?

Spurs draw Basel for Europa quarters. Also Cheslea v. Rubin Kazan, Newcastle v. Benfica, and Lazio v. Fenrbahce.

In UCL Barca v. PSG, Bayern v. Juve, Dortmund v. Malaga, and Real v Galatasaray (would be incredible if Drogba leads another underdog to a UCL title),

Doesn't answer the question but this about 5 days ago:

For Dempsey, Sigurdsson's emergence and Bale's re-positioning means he has real competition at hand when he recovers from his calf injury (he is scheduled to return sometime in the next couple of weeks). Even prior to his injury and these changes in circumstances, Dempsey had been experiencing a lull in which what was next for him was not clear.

And this a couple ago:

Clint Dempsey, a two-time World Cup participant who hasn't played for three weeks because of a calf injury, is expected to play for Team USA against Costa Rica in the World Cup qualifier March 22 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, coach Jurgen Klinsmann said Wednesday

Kinda think he won't play if he's being counted on for the Costa Rica game and based on the earlier asessment of the time frame. I say give it a rest, he's been too good to jeopardize the rest of the season and WCQ.

Why are you posting the junk on a Football board!? Nobody knows what the hell USMNT is or cares. Go post this on your FB page if you want someone to care.
Actually a lot of people know what USMNT stands for

Max Zeiky?

I used to follow Fulham during the Dempsey years, now I have to find a new team. For now I'm content just watching the BPL games without rooting for anyone in particular.

I'm rooting for Dortmund in the CL this year because I managed them for a while in Football Manager haha
