USC Gamecocks 2024-25 Season: Part Two

They do that with a lot of coaches. Remember Geno and Muffet?
True. The difference is that they truly despise each other (for various reasons) and the media wanted to play that up for ratings (I certainly would if I was a network executive). Meanwhile, they're trying to frame Kara as some sort of Dawn protégé even though that's [apparently] never been the case. I don't think Dawn is interested in having a protégé, and I don't think Kara is in dire need of a mentor at this point.

It felt good to win on the backs of our seniors. Sania, Raven, Bree, and Tehina all provided something to push us into the final four. It felt apropos.

They need to take the on ball charge out of the women’s game. The officials clearly don’t know how to officiate it and continue to reward defensive fouls.

Just happened to LSU as well.

I'll take some humble pie if I have to.. With a side of vanilla ice cream

No pressure on Duke.

All of the pressure is on the game chickens.
No offense, but down the stretch seemed like Duke played like there was a little bit of pressure on them.

Lawson is coming though. No question about that.

Reports of our demise are greatly exaggerated.

UCLA is the best team and UConn has the most top end talent. Avoid UCLA and avoid a 13-28 shooting night from UConn and we can win it.

We're suddenly the anti-Notre Dame. The Irish were getting pumped up all year and "they're only ranked (wherever) because they don't get to play as many good teams! They should be even higher!" Well, congratulations. You finally played some more good teams.
Still believe this btw. If UConn (or just Bueckers) goes supernova against UCLA then turns in an average game against us in the finals, we can win it. We're not beating Bueckers in a superwoman cape or a team 45% from 3, but we can beat a regression to mean UConn.

Congrats to Chloe for being named Birmingham 2's MVP!

Huh?

Ummmm, are you forgetting we play the winner of Texas/TCU? WTH? Calm down.

UConn's 3 point performance against Massey top 20:

13-28 (W)
10-26 (W)
7-29 (W)
6-23 (L)
5-20 (L)
3-16 (L)
3-14 (W)

We can beat 6-23, and likely would.
That wouldn’t be the only statistic I would be looking at. Also, you assume that both SC & UConn make it to the championship game. Obviously, that’s not a done deal for either team.

What do you all think about Dawn Staley to Alabama?

No need to panic folks. Jk

I thought it was a very insightful thing from the alabama.com reporter to bring up a little known fact .

Alabama athletic director Mal Moore, brought Coach Staley in for a job interview while she started her coaching career at Temple. She came for the visit , thought about the opportunity, but it just did not feel right.

Had things changed. Moki could’ve been the South Carolina head women’s basketball coach and Dawn Staley could be the Alabama women’s basketball coach.

I'd think UConn +19 on the boards is another one of those numbers, but you're right. We aren't nearly there yet.

Whatever. I’m not assuming anything. You go right ahead.
Somebody started a 2026 preseason #1 thread. I bet they don’t even know there’s still another game to be played in 2025. You should prolly get in there and yell at clouds.

To all you SC fans and contributors on the board (including you lurkers lol): congrats on a fantastic season yet again! I know it’s not over, but both you and UCONN are simply on another level right now and the best two teams deserve to be here! You went through a grueling SEC and OCC schedule and it’s paid off!

Some folks may be worried that SC may want revenge for earlier this year, but we all know these are two different teams. And I’m a firm believer that to be the best you have to beat the best—so you can’t shy away from the best competition, which IMHO is you! ;) And I just love what Dawn has done for your team and WBB in general. The sport is in great hands because of people like her! I hope we have an amazing game on Sunday and no matter what the outcome, both squads have to be super proud of this year and all of their accomplishments! (On a person note, I can’t wait to see what outfit she’s going to wear as well!)

See everyone on Sunday! Go Huskies!

Please don't embarrass the Carolinas again on Sunday.

Hope we can pull the upset today, but I’ve mentally set myself for a UConn win. Not feeling as much anxiety as I did last year going in.

Not the way any of us wanted the season to end but we just lost to a better team. Hell of a follow-up season for us. Both SEC crowns, Final Four, and five wins in the tournament. We did it all except win the grand prize.

I’m grateful for our seniors but look forward to seeing an offense run through Raven/Tessa/Fulwiley/Kitts/Joyce.

Thank you Sania and Breezy for all you have to our program. We’ll miss you greatly and you should be proud of all you’ve accomplished.

Hate the lost, but UConn was just better than the field this year. No contest.

I thought I would be more upset, but I think a part of me felt like this was UConn’s year the moment they took down UCLA.

Glad Paige got her ring. She’s such a great advocate for the sport and this cements her legacy at UConn. I don’t root for a lot of Huskies, but her and Stewie are definitely some of my favorite players. Congrats Connecticut!

Breezy and Sania should be proud of what they’ve accomplished at SC. Great careers. Raven has a decision to make, but whatever it is, I really hope she gets a fair shot to show what she can do.

Now we turn the pa(ige) to next season. I expect us to be right back in the Final Four.
