No, Raven wasn’t there when Indiana beat us. That was 2019/20 and was our only loss in the banner freshman year of Boston and the freshies.

I don't think that this Indiana team is a threat at all.

Thoughts on the Indiana game:
1. The first quarter was hard to watch…and the second quarter only a little less so. Hardly recognized our team.
2. Our usually productive bench must have been having coffee at Russell House… except for some Tessa free throws at the end, they were largely missing in action. Fulwiley contributed little in her 10 minutes, and Edwards never got untracked. The starters got way more than their usual share of minutes… can’t remember when that happened last.
3. Credit Indiana… our crowd and our banners in CLA did not intimidate them.
4. Credit Dawn for making adjustments at halftime.
5. Alabama or Maryland next… better the devil that you know.

As usual… YMMV. Forever to thee!

They're an old team. Every player who played for them today was at least a junior. That's midmajor-esque.

Winston Gandy hired as next HC at Grand Canyon. Will be interesting to see which way Dawn goes with new hire. Does she look to fill the #3 with an experienced coach. Does she move Mary Wooley and Khadijah up one spot on AC roster and then hires a young person to that 5th spot. Perhaps a current WNBA player (non-alum), or a former Gamecock who Dawn believes has coaching potential like Ty, Lisa Welch, Asia Dozier.

Here’s an idea, Lisa Leslie’s making noise about having trouble getting hired as a coach. No better way to prove yourself and garner interest than spending 2 or 3 years on Dawn’s staff. Can you imagine a high school post or forward getting recruitment calls and visits from those two?

I certainly remember Lisa Leslie as a player, but would she resonate with today's recruits?

She’s lately been resonating with Angel Reese and she will at least resonate with many of these recruits parents, aunts, uncles, etc. Seeing these interviews that Olivia Thompson has been doing with former Gamecocks, quite a lot had no idea who Dawn was and of her playing career when she was recruiting them. I believe Leslie has the personal genuineness that Dawn has that made these recruits want to come play for Dawn (beyond the program’s on court success).

My mind went straight to Lisa Leslie because of all the talk from Dawn about Lisa giving pointers to our bigs. Was that a potential trial run by Dawn to test out the chemistry between Leslie and our players? That would be an interesting get...

That would be great. Thought it interesting that Lisa and her entire family were at the game vs Indiana and they were all dressed in Gamecock gear.

This is a great question to ask. UVA didn't consider this when they hired Tina Thompson--and they paid for it big time.

That said, Lisa is not Tina. People, even those under 18, know her. I'd say offer her a spot if she's truly interested in coaching.

Grand Canyon is a good first job. They’re about to step up from WAC to Mountain West, but reportedly will remain near the top of their conference in spending.

Apparently the players are putting out a full-court press to get Latson. It also sounds like Raven is coming back with the way she is phrasing her sentences. I didn't realize MiLaysia was also on the same AAU team. Especially with Hall and Paopao moving on, we've got the minutes.

A starting lineup of R. Johnson, Latson, Fulwiley, Kitts and Edwards (or Dauda) would be legit.

That idea begs several questions… would Latson accept a role that gives her less minutes than she played at FSU this year? Can she play defense? While she’s familiar with some of our players, does the “chemistry” work with the entire team? Is winning her priority, or just compiling individual stats to improve her pro chances? Did we recruit her out of high school, and if so, what made FSU a better choice?

Personally, I think Tessa has earned more minutes. Less mercurial than Lay, but more consistent, especially beyond the arc.

Dauda has been a huge disappointment.

Jade English + Klutch Sports + Tania Latson in the portal. Thoughts?
Should we go after her in the portal?

Jade is Alex English’s daughter
Jade is the Agent got JuJu Watkins and Latson
Latson is in the portal
Latson and Raven played together in high school
I believe Jade is a Carolina alum also.

Dang! You guys are on it…
I will share this insight though. Latson and Fulwiley played for a AAU team called FBC United. Latson was a starter on that team early in the summer and was later replaced in the starting lineup by Fulwiley.

Jade was on Carolina’s track team.

Don't forget about Tessa.

I have to get something off my chest. Last season, we mentioned how important Kamilla was to the success of this program, only to be met with jeers and panning from opposing fan bases.

"She's just tall!"

"She doesn't have any talent!"

"She's as athletic as Tierra McCowan" (yes, someone on this board actually said that ).

Now that there have been a few "too close for comfort" wins during this tournament, what do we hear?

"They can't win it all because they don't have Kamilla!"

"Kamilla was the key to their success!"

"They'll never be able to replace Kamilla!"

So much pivoting it makes your head spin!

I hope that the team takes it to heart that they're not considered the favorites and strives to prove the doubters wrong.

This team has played ugly more times than needed. I know that there were ugly games in each of the championship wins in the past, but UCONN and UCLA are better equipped at make South Carolina pay for that, than teams in years past. They can still win it all, but they need to up the game. It's down to 3 games left. It's now or never. I don't have a good feeling about their chances at this point. We shall see.

We meet again.. and we will be ready with a side of potato salad and a biscuit
