USA's 3x3 team in China, featuring 3 UConn future players, crushed their first three opponents by a combined score of 63-11. With Katie Lou Samuelson nursing a sprained ankle, Napheesa Collier, DeJanae Boykin & Arike Ogunbowale took just over 22 minutes of play to win 21-6, 21-3 & 21-2.
Collier is scoring whenever she wants, shooting 30-41 (73.2%). Take out her 1-6 from 3 pt range and she is 29-35 (82.8%) from the field. Boykin, 9-19 (47.5%) and Arike 11-24 (45.8%) are also contributing w/ great shooting. The only flaw in USA's play is their 2-12 results from 3's. (Which actually only count as 2 points, with regular field goals only worth 1 point.) Free throws are disappointing at 11-19 (57.8%).
Want some defense? Egypt, Romania and Indonesia shot only 7-55 (12.7%) from the field. Indonesia actually went 0-15 from the field and scored their 2 points on free throws. USA faces Thailand, Belgium, Andorra, Taiwan and Guam on Wednesday-Sunday. (Often there are two games in one day.) Andorra is a very small principality between France and Spain, created in 1278.
Report is that KLS is dressed, taped up and ready to play if needed.
Go future Huskies..!!
