After last night and Nova this team showed what we can (and will) be in March.
All year there has been a feeling that AZ, Duke, Michigan, and a few others are playing in a different league.

We beat Fla with little problem- (SEC not great either) manned up to AZ (UConn depleted too) and handled Illinois with no issue.

Yet, listening to field of 68 last night- even after the beatdown- it sounded like UConn was outside looking in on those other teams.

I for one- think it's just collective consciousness that the ncaa and media creates around the P4.

They're not NBA teams
And after all, they're only ordinary men.

It's not IF we have the team to do it. It's which team shows up in the tournament.

AZ, Duke and Michigan have played better than us game by game over the course of the season, and especially since we all got into conference schedules. People see that. Most UConn fans see that. But as the non-conference schedule and the last three halves showed, I don’t doubt that we can compete at that level. We’re just getting to the part of the season where we have to bring our best up and down the roster every game.

All true. Also, Dan keeps mentioning that we open up in non-con. I dont think that's just coach speak. The games over the past few years prove it. I mean, we played better against Florida last year in the tourney than we did against half the big east during the season.

Of course UConn had extra motivation to respond and revenge that MSG loss to them. But it was the way they provided that championship response and exceeded our expectations showing what UConn's complete game could look like. That was as Hurley calls, a championship response. Now they have seen it themselves, I believe the team realizes they need to play with intensity every game at this point. The belief is there. Enjoy it folks.

The team has looked much different in the last two games, which has been the hardest 2 game stretch of BE play. Good sign

It all starts with the defense. It’s been 100% active, engaged, communicative, and strong. If you play good defense but you get beat by a great individual shot, then whatever. But no swiss cheese defense like Creighton. It’s looked much better

Tarris has the skill, yesterday he had the will. Need that passion every game!

Karaban with back to back double digit scoring games, and we already know he does everything else well. I was surprised to see this was his first time scoring double digits in 2 straight games since Jan 10-13. 12 and 13 games ago. Need this consistency from our senior leader

Solo has cut out the forced shots and has played within himself. “Only” 10 points a game in the last two games, but they’ve come very efficiently at 53%. Of course we know he can still light it up like he did against Butler and Georgetown

Bench contributions have been really strong the last two games. Need that moving forward!

Not having BE refs destroying the fluid nature of our offense goes a long way in OOC games.
Yes to this! Especially for Tarris I think. He seemed so relaxed and just playing basketball, rather than waiting to hear whistles every time he was involved in a play.

You cant blame Big East style and knowledge when you struggle most games against bad teams.

Kansas, Illinois and Florida are not the same teams as they are now, not even close. The wins look great on paper though.

That being said the Uconn defense of the past 1.5 games beats any team in the country. So yeah the big question is which Uconn team will show up.

I thought this was going to be a Piink Floyd thread because of the thread name.

Lack of a whistle is better for fans and players. They still obviously whistle flagrants. So the most violent plays are still kept under control.
We are a stronger more physical team than we have been giving ourselves credit for. Nobody is scared of contact. (Especially Ross and Malachi. Those guys are Hass level dogs)

The national sportswriter/ media narrative is and has been that Duke and Michigan are a cut above. Last night tells me that we can play on that level as long as we play that defense.

I think as far as resume and metrics, Michigan, Duke, and Arizona are clearly above the other contenders and have locked up #1 seeds.

The last #1 is between us, Iowa State, Houston, and maybe Purdue/Illinois/Florida if one of them runs the table.

That said, last night(and arguably our OOC performance) shows that our ceiling is capable of contending with those 3.

Houston is out if you ask me. The last 3 game skid along with too few top of resume wins, tells me they're out.

Purdue doesn't have any quality opponents left to grab in the reg season, and they aren't beating Illinois or UM in the B10T.

Florida just doesn't have enough quality teams to beat in the SEC and we have the neutral site win.

For any of these teams to get it, we'd have to fall flat on our face.

If Illinois beats Michigan and runs the table, outside chance. If Iowa St wins at Arizona and runs the table, they have the best chance. But I can't see them winning at AZ, as they've beaten no one on the road in the B12. We'd have to lose a game too.

We win out, we are in no matter what. I could maaaybe see Iowa St jumping us if they win out too, as they'll be grabbing wins @AZ, home against TTU, and then would likely have at least 2 really quality wins against the likes of AZ, Houston, Kansas. So they could theoritically win themselves the 1 seed. I don't think they are good enough to do it.

I would say that the last 2 were the team we thought we had. How does that team lose to Creighton and struggle with the dreck that makes up the current NBE? We have dominated 4 teams, 2 the league’s best, but lost badly to a not very good one and needed a crazy comeback to beat another bad one. What a crazy ride.

The play by play guy was making a big deal anbout St John’s 13 game win streak. Except for us, the Johnnie’s win streak was a little bit of smoke and mirrors. Lots of wins over teams that are .500 or below. Both they and Villanova are good, not great. They are teams we should beat with the team we have playing up to its potential. Beating the Johnnie’s like we did is just crazy but beating them comfortably isn’t.
