Aubrey's post defense when Edwards and then Ono were out with foul trouble saved the game for UConn. That's why she was in.

I kept wondering about Anna not getting time but you are right. Aubrey was a key player as things turned out.

I found myself screaming at the set for Geno to put Anna in. AG is good for a spark but the offense suffers. I realize he was trying to counteract Baylor’s bigs but I think it cost us points. Don’t get me wrong, I love the energy AG brings to the game, energy missing with Nika out, but she’s a spot player. She still looks lost on offense and it isn’t just her lack of scoring punch—we don’t move the ball as well.

Who would Anna have guarded? It would not have been a good match up for her.

I am not suggesting that she play an entire quarter at a time. She can defend and she is big so it is not a disaster to have her in there. And she can score from three and would pull a defender out. Most importantly Paige and Evina could have a couple minutes rest. In the final five minutes Paige was gassed and her shots were short. I believe Anna could have helped alleviate that.

Geno said "just the fact that she's out there [practicing today] is a really positive sign." The key Geno said was to see how she feels in the morning after her first practice. Hopefully she feels fine and can keep progressing. I don't think they need her on Friday night (if she's up to it maybe some garbage minutes late if possible), but it would be great to have her available in the final assuming we get that far. Geno said they are a very different team with Nika playing because they don't have anyone else with her defensive mentality.

Geno just said they missed what Nika can do and brings to the team. Aubrey and Anna can't do what she does.
