Unrivaled starts tonight! Who ya got??

Hold on. No one thinks Alisha Gray vs Jordin Canada or Courtney Williams vs Tiffany Hayes as tough match ups for the first round? What am I missing here?

Who said that? We were just talking UConn v, UConn matchups. There's a lot of great matchups.

How is everyone voting? Are you voting off of Unrivaled performance thus far, expected outcomes of each matchup in a hypothetical 1-on-1 scenario, favorite player, most fashionable...??? :p

Take the Stewie/Edwards matchup as an example... I think Edwards has been more productive than Stewie thus far in Unrivaled, but there ain't no chance that Edwards would win in a hypothetical matchup based on historical performance and capabilities displayed outside of Unrivaled.

Wait a minute. I went back for a second look. I'm confused. Is this a fan vote thing or actual 1 on 1 games?

The Unrivaled 1x1 tournament bracket is out. #UConn fans are going to have a tough time. Phee plays Katie Lou, and Stewie plays Aaliyah in round 1. Who do you root for!?!
Louuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!

Good question.

I'm also wondering about the players who have been out with injuries. Does their inclusion in the bracket suggest that they're expected to play? I'm thinking of Marina Mabrey, for instance, who is in the bracket but hasn't played in Unrivaled yet. I wonder if one of the relief players, like Natisha Hiedeman, will step in if someone cannot play.

I'm guessing they could have opted out if they didn't want to participate?

Marina Mabrey is -- finally -- on the score sheet in Unrivaled.
Those calf muscle injuries can take longer to ger right ... they can stay tight.
(Take it from me...and yes, I'm also sporting that calf sleeve, just like Marina. But mine's on the left calf)

Glad to see her back on the court. Nice to see she's been practicing her Milly Rock skills that her team mates have been working on with her too. ;)

I've mostly kept up with the Aces, Gamecocks, and Dream players. Some good, some bad, and some in-between.

Chelsea Gray has been destroying this league the last 6-7 games!!!! It has brought tears to my eyes at times--shades of 2022. :)

I'm pulling for Jewell's team to make the playoffs so that she can be fully unleashed. Let's GO, Gold Mamba!

Love what I've seen from Lish. Not a fan of her team, however. Not really a fan of all of Vinyl's players, but I've enjoyed Rhyne (I usually do) and Jordin. Haven't liked what I've seen from Aliyah, but this isn't a league that caters to her current strengths.

BG has played well. Phantom, on the other hand, hasn't. I blame Satou and Sabrina (who ghosted them lol) for that.

As for the Laces, well, yeah. Injuries suck and that coach is awful. Keep up the good fight, Jackie!

With so many basketball games on over the past few days (high school, college, and overseas), I have, sadly, forgotten to tune in and watch some of the unrivaled games. I will have to catch up on YouTube I guess.

That Owls/Rose game was intense! Angel Reese and the rest of her Rose teammates talk a lot of trash for a team that is 7-6. I am glad that the Owls won though.

Prognostication: Lunar Owls > Vinyl ; Laces > Rose
then Monday LUNAR OWLS > Laces Lunar Owls ... wire to wire!

If Laces can get by Rose, I’d love to see them pull off the upset of the Lunar Owls. They and the Mist are my two favorite teams. Kayla McBride has been the league MVP for me, leading her team through so many injuries along with Stef Dolson. As much as I love Pheesa and have always liked Courtney Williams, I have never warmed to Skylar Diggins and find it hard to get behind the team.

I also wonder if, from a marketing standpoint, it might not be more interesting if Phee, cofounder of the league, best player on the best team, 1-on-1 champ, 1st team all-league, didn’t also win the first championship game. Or do I sound like the people who used to say UConn was bad for basketball? :p
