UConn 11 assists, 22 turnovers...

20 personal fouls, is that a season high? ( they were averaging 13 per game.)

Only saw the 2nd half. Really ugly game. Since I had to watch this at a local bar and they had rap music blasting from mega speakers I only had video, no audio. Why did Kiah only get about 12 minutes?

I have a bad feeling of deja vu all over again. Geno is going to keep playing just six players ( with 10-15 minutes for Kiah), and the girls are going to wear down, just like they did last year. Don't say I didn't warn you.

whats the name of that bar ;)

I agree with Alum. Who looks tired?
Kelly...fouling, mistakes. no offense;
Bria...fouls, really off her shot
KLM
On top of that, the beating that Tiff has taken the last few games will certainly take its toll.

In addition, when you use the dime package in FB, its not set up for big fullbacks lumbering through.
The problem with the 4-guard offense is less ability to prevent being manhandled like tonight.

Are you predicting that the ND players will wear down also? Very similar minutes distribution and they were playing Syracuse, who is not nearly as tough as Louisville:

Haven't watched the game yet -- did you feel Kiah was effective (physically) and deserved to be played more (instead of _____) ?

Again, not sure what did or didn't happen tonight and who is or isn't tired (who have we played the last few games?) but the reality of the beginning of the season was the four-guard offense was the only viable option. What is really exciting is to see that Kiah might be able to allow Geno to do the two-tower offense.

Guess I'm back to my original question - who should have played less?

I'll offer another possibility for the minutes as distributed last night.

Geno had an opportunity to let the team deal with the harshest of circumstances last night, something not easy to replicate in practice. The game was being played before a hostile packed house, it was incredibly physical and the officials weren't bringing any help, the starters and the sixth man were in deep foul trouble 5, 4, 4, 3, and 3, the team was not shooting well and twice previously the team had let games slide away late under tough on the road conditions. Last night they drew the line and held tough against all those things. Geno let them figure out how deep they can go against the odds.

Even with all the scenarios they run in practice you cannot replicate the pressure under which the played and prevailed last night. It was HUGE!!!

The freshmen were getting hacked and pushed. Brianna was taken out of the game after getting hit in the head; she seemed shaken up emotionally (not physically) and we didn't see her again. As for Kiah, Stef was willing to swing a few elbows and throw the kid hanging all over her off her back. Kiah doesn't have an attitude yet and it may be Geno was afraid she'd get hurt because of it.

Does anyone have any ideas about why Bria sat for most of the 1st half?

Peace,

John Fryer

kiah should have played more. i don't think there's much to worry about with her handling herself in a physical game. i think she's physically stronger than stef. she played quite well when she was in. stef certainly could have used a few more breathers. kiah's also got to learn to handle these kinds of games.
