anyone tracking my posts on UConn's uniforms knows i've never been a huge fan of the current uniforms, but admittedly they've grown on me despite their dullness, since i joined UConn Nation in 2021. Particularly the white/white/white with block C look.

However, i have to say, this "update" made me chuckle a little. I have felt that Nike needed to find a way to re-incorporate a small splash of red into our threads. They emphasized "small" lol.

Can't wait until we get into a conference and Nike deems us worthy of spending some time on a worthy re-design. All of this screams "you're not worth it"... to me, at least.
 
If the linemen block well.... If the QB throws well... If the receivers catch the ball... If the running backs run well... If the defensive line applies pressure... Linebackers defend well... D backs defend well... Special teams excel...
I personally could care less if they were in clown suits or flannel petticoats, That of course with the block C on the helmet. ;)
Uniforms do not win football games or bring in recruits. Do realize it is more than Nike that makes the decision on uniforms. The HC, AD, school committees and big donors have a hand in what we see.

Yes woof, of course. ultimately the play is what matters.

Regarding who calls the shots on our unis, I have no idea at the end of the day. I would have to assume everyone has a say, not just nike. But - i put the attention on Nike because re-designs mean the designers in Beaverton have to spend time/budget to make a new kit for UConn, which ultimately has to return dividends to Nike itself. Idk how the financials of commissioning a new uniform design work, but I doubt Auburn is getting invoices from Under Armour, or UNC is getting a bill from Jordan/Nike, for uniform design. That's cuz they're worth it. I would suspect Nike doesn't feel the same about us. Not yet, at least. But maybe i'm wrong, idk.
 
The word for our unis is clean. Not an unnecessary school name/nickname on the jersey, and the clearest, best-looking numbers in the game. Not a fan of our all blue or white combos. A little red goes a long way.

Id rather clean and sharp over complicated. I'm not saying this delivers that. I liked the ones in the 04-06ish window
 
IMO, Nike is cheap crap, everything about the brand is crap.
UConn can do so much better.
 
I don’t think Nike has ever done us any favors in any sport. The basketball throwbacks are better than anything new.

Football is finally decent but we really don’t look good in the all blue. All white with za blue helmet is nice. And I like blue shirt white pants for the home uniforms. And pick a helmet. I like Blue with the Block C but white is fine. I’ve never liked the cartoon dog. This update has enough red thank you. Back in the 1990s maybe they had a sweater with a Husky head profile. Sweet. And one with the Husky logo in a circle. Also very nice. Block UCONN. Boring.

Hockey home is about as bland as they come. Probably the most boring uniform in the country.

yeah... i dash of red, but more than just making the swoosh red. I have long said we need to take a page out of Arizona's uniform design. They absolutely nailed the white/blue/red scheme, IMO.
 
how is it so hard to make nice kits for UConn? we literally have the USA colors lol.
 
I just gotta say it again, and again. The 'Block C' sucks. Boring, unimaginative, embarrassing.

wow! this is a piping hot take! what would you like the main football helmet branding to be?
 
At least we are not like 50% of the teams in the country that wear all black. So many of the teams that wear red have switch to black. Ugly + boring. Case in point -Carolina Hurricanes. Logo is brutal bad.
 
old school:
always blue helmets with white block C
always white shoes
always white pants
no red,grey or black
 
We were told we had to have and embrace the Cub Scout wolf dog. That was going to be for all sports. Uniformity! But…. but… not baseball (keep the Hook C, which is great btw) - and hoop…we pretty much wear throwbacks come March because of superstitious Dan. Old dog, Connecticut instead of UConn on the front. My point?
em. They set rules, try to get rid of the block C - and it failed. Choose one damn helmet and wear it each week. Not hard.
And white pants only. Blue sucks.
 
Pretty simple.. college football is all about tradition, so keep it classic; the overall theme shouldn't change...white helmet with Block C, white pants, blue or white shirts.

agreed, white pants allll the way.

Worst current uniform (opinion)
Every time UConn wears the blue/blue/blue combo,with the husky head helmet, i want to throw my morning cup of coffee at the television

(i'm on the west coast so it's often still breakfast time at kickoff lol)

In the new EA College Football Game you get a better look at the "new" uniforms. Aside from the red nike accent logos on both the tops and pants, the jersey numbers moved from atop the shoulders to the sleeves.
