Neither team looks good to me at all, both teams are playing hard but they seem undisciplined, constantly going for steals instead of just staying in from of their man. UMass has been in control the whole game but Providence has gotten it down to 4. UMass point guard Chaz Williams is nasty, by far the beat player on the floor.

If umass loses this... you can almost hear the selection Sunday pundits picking this game out as the reason to ship them back to the NIT

Isn't this coach the one in the long line of those in the revolving door to get them over the top and an elite program?

Yes, he's Mr. Intensity. He should make himself run wind sprints.

To be fair, the two that had some success (Barnes, Gillen) skipped town before long.

That's half my point - the other half is the next best left because they sucked.

Don't worry about PC, they will look like Wooden's UCLA teams when they play UCONN. It's all they have to play for every year.

I turned it off after 5 minutes. I felt like I was watching a high school game
i had the exact same feeling while watching the first half. Just bad shot after bad shot, the rims sounded strange, the diamond and 1 trap being executed while the other team has no idea how to break it, the horrible officiating, and some announcer that kept yelling about how kids shouldn't get winded for no particular reason. I had to turn it off.

UMass has more talent and better size than PC but PC played a little more consistently.......UMass plays hard but not always smart, talented but get lost for minutes at a time. Chaz is real nice but they could pull the reigns in on him occasionally........PC plays hard, not real talented for now but he gets a lot out of what he has (Cooley)........

How is the NK kid (Dunn) doing? No minutes in the box score.

PC is extremely short on players right now, they have 6 scholarships eaten up by players that are injured/redshirt transfers or not eligible:

Vincent Council - out/injured - best returning player
Kris Dunn - out/injured - 6th man at worse
Ricky Ledo - out/not NCAA eligible - best incoming player
Tyler Harris - Transfer redshirt - eligible next year, pretty bad at NCST
Carson Derosiers - Transfer redshirt - eligible next year, pretty bad at Wake
Sidiki Johnson - Transfer redshirt - eligible next semester (?), didn't play at Zona

Even with 5 players that are mostly unknown that team is probably better than what they have on the floor:

Bryce Cotton
Kadeem Batts
LaDonate Henton
Josh Fortune
Brice Kofane
Lee Goldsbrough
Walk-on: Ted Bancroft

I think they also have one open scholarship. So that is their team. Kind of sad, but IMO it's worse that UMass almost lost to that team.

I give UMass props for having 2 game winning buzzer beaters already though

I watched the last 10 minutes of the 1st half. Both teams played like it was the 1st game of the season. No rythem on either side whatsoever.
I do believe if PC had Council they win this game.
And as poor as PC played, we have to play them twice. I agree with a previous poster that they'll come out like one of John Wooden's UCLA teams for those games.
Might be one, or (gulp) two of the few games they win this year.
That brings up a big huge question. It's obvious PC will have a poor team this year. What happens if they're not so good next year. Will Cooley be on the hotseat in 13-14? I proposed the same question for Keno in his 2nd season too.

Providence can't suck enough for my taste. I get tired of UCONN having a great year, losing to PC, and all we hear about from their fans is how great it was blah blah. and to think we are even in a recruiting battle with them. ugh. looking forward to Ollie having a full contract so we can move on from that stuff...

Yikes! I can see why it was compared to a high school game. That PC lineup would have a hard time winning a game in the Big East. The result of this game does not bode well for UMass, but it is early.

Hopefully, those will (gulp) be the only games we lose this year;)

But in all seriousness, PC is down a bunch of talent due to injury and NCAA eligibility issues. If guys come back, they should be much, much better than the PC of last night.
