A pretty high-level game... At times a bit raggedy, but there was a ton of talent on that court and despite what people foolishly think, two legendary coaches going at it. Raftery just noted, UNC switching to zone, something that they rarely do, changed the momentum.

The only mathing up I was right about on my bracket.

As for the game: Take the Squid into the deep water and he will drown every time.

I really want to see an article written about Cal failing again. With the number of "Number 1" recruiting classes that the guy has had and the fact that he recruits on "results" he sure has not produced much. 1 NC on the back of a generational player, AD, I tend to find him pretty pathetic. It has been said many times that all he can do is recruit. He is a pretty awful coach when it comes down to it. So, long story short...would love to see an article about it. Surely would never be on ESPN though...

I wouldn't trade, because the name of the game is to win titles. But you can stack up Calipari against anyone but K in this window (though Calipari has more deep runs) and he comes up looking good.

Duke

2010 - National Title
2011 - S16 (1 vs. 5)
2012 - R1 (2 vs. 15)
2013 - Elite 8
2014 - R1 (3 vs. 14)
2015 - National Championship
2016 - S16
2017 - R2

UNC

2010 - NIT
2011 - Elite 8
2012 - Elite 8
2013 - R2
2014 - R2

I have no hatred for UNC so I pulled hard for them. I hate Kentucky first and Duke second.
Interesting to see Wenyen Gabriel barely get off the pine for Kentucky.

Just wait. He'll figure it out. Like next year when he ups his average to 11 mpg and then he goes in the late second round, plays a year in the d league, and then carves out a nice 5 year career in Lithuania

I don't think the program as much as the entire athletic dept and school admin being dirty

For me this was an easy one....The more UNC wins, the more the hypocrisy of the NCAA becomes apparent.

At least other programs like Louisville and Cuse "self penalized" and admitted fault to try and limit future sanctions. Essentially UNC has given the NCAA the finger and all but challenged them to try and penalize them.

Even if UNC wins it all this year there will always be an asterisk next to their name. Nothing screams impotence and corruption like if UNC were to play for a NC and then win a NC in a 2 year period while a 8 years NCAA investigation was pending.....go Tar heels..

The squid has a 30 for 30 coming out about himself and just got a contract extension paying him close to $8m a year. Success doesn't even matter very much when you're the most popular program in all of college sports, especially with the help of social media. It's despicable.

I'll take championships and a winning record against almost all of the "best teams" any day over being the team that drake loves or gets big reactions from Stephen A or Skip

Everyone should call whatever radio show you listen to this week and bring up the unc scandal. It's been buried so far down that people forgot about it

UNC is tied with Cuse in my race for the 2nd most vile program. I jumped out of my chair cheering when Maye's shot dropped.

Today is a good day. I got my once a year dose of Rupp Rafters schadenfreude. And next year is going to be a "down" year for them. They have no incoming recruits who are game changers like Monk or Fox. They won't be able to shoot a lick. They are losing two rotation seniors. Exciting times.

Its weird to dump on a recruiting class when it will be top 2, but there is a huge difference between guys who are ranked in that top tier like Monk and Fox (and Davis and Towns, Cousins, Wall, MKG, etc.) and guys who are ranked mid teens - to 30's.

For all of Calipari's faults, he has two thing going for him....

1) He really prettied up our 2011 and 2014 title runs. Just nice to see Kentucky listed there with the fallen.

2) He and Kentucky have never, ever, never conspired with other schools and a television network to destroy our athletic conference and our athletic program.

You all can root for whoever you want, but I'll root for the Pol Pot All-Stars before I root for an ACC team.
