Good stuff.

The next question is who would you rank #3 as UConn's most cluch? El-Amin? Hamilton? Allen? Gordon? Okafor?
Would you add Rashad to the list as well?

They all have their signature moments. El-Amin's game-winner against Pitt was one of my earliest UConn memories.

Forgot about ONIONS. Yes, he should be there in the list with the 3 pointer against Nova to send to OT, and the same against Washington in the NCAA.

I would rank Rip above Shabazz right now.

Kemba's ankle breaker against Pitt that left McGhee gasping for air is CLASSIC. Bazz's shot against Florida was mindblowing. IMO, the student has now become the master.

Have as there been ANY players from ANY school who have been CLOSE to as clutch as these 2 have been in CBB over the past 4 or 5 years? I can't think of any.
And they're both from UConn.

Are my glasses shaded too blue, or am I right?

Who else is even in the discussion?

I would rank Rip above Shabazz right now.

So would I, I know there's probably data pointing to the contrary, but it seemed like Rip always played well in every big game over his last 2 years, with obviously 77-74 being the biggest.

Totally agree. a bit of luck getting the tip back, but Kemba performed in a "bigger moment". Hard to say. Great to be able to have the discussion though. Love both of them... but glad one is suited up for us right now!

Tate actually hit two mammoth ones - game-winner at West Virginia to start our run to the NIT title (which was big at the time). And The Shot. Plus went 4-4 at the line to seal the Syracuse win in the BE title game to give us our first one ever. But he's probably exempt from any positive discussions.

I'm not a terribly big fan of his, but Marcus was really good in the clutch when he was eligible. I can't deny him that, or his passing ability in college. Both were top notch.

One of the most clutch bazz performances isn't on here because it was a loss. He single handedly pulled us even with Cinci with multiple clutch threes at Gampel before we got Kilpatricked at the buzzer.

I thought AJ Price was pretty clutch in his last year (or two) - carried the 2009 team on offense more than once seemingly more by willing the ball in the hoop than any other reason. Maybe not in the same class as some of these other guys but carrying a team to a final 4 seems worth mentioning.

They may be the top two clutch players, but Tate George's shot will never be replaced.

That was a game I thought we lost. Bazz and Kemba shots I always felt we had a chance. Tate (Burrell) did the impossible. For the students now on campus:

Love Bazz, but it's gonna take some postseason heroics for me to rank him #1. Kemba and Rip still ahead.

Wow this is a tough one. I give Kemba the edge, but Bazz is quickly closing the gap. I'm beginning to have the same feeling about him as I did with Kemba, which is, "Here's the play. Give him the ball late in the game and get the bleep out of his way!" As much as I loved Rip's game, he did not have the ability to create his own shot as well as Kemba and Bazz.

Rip's clutchness is rooted in the fact that it seemed like he was always "on" for a big game. I'm sure there are some games here and there that prove otherwise but it seemed like for every big game over his last two years you could count on him to give you an efficient 20+ or at least score in the high teens.

Rip gave us 27 vs a 37-1 Duke team that was easily the best team K has ever had to capture our first final 4 and first title. He will always be the most clutch in my eyes. Where so many failed before him, he finally got us "there." He may not have had as many game winners as Kemba or Bazz, but he always seemed to have a good game when it mattered most.

For Bazz to even be in the discussion with Kemba and Rip is remarkable and a tribute to him. All three are absolutely outstanding, but I think Bazz has actually hit more big shots in overtime and/or at the buzzer. The kid has been nothing short of amazing last season and this season.

I guess some of this depends on what is meant by most clutch. My putting Kemba at the top spot with Bazz closing the gap quickly is weighted more heavily on a winning time criteria, which is not a complete picture of clutch.

A player can have a horrible game but then knock down a big shot or makes a string of plays during the last 2 1/2 or so minutes of the game, such as the Nova guard who's name escapes me that I think was scoreless till he hit the game winning 3 against some top 25 opponent about a week or so ago.

This doesn't take into account performances where the player performs at a high level throughout a game making big time plays when the stakes are at their highest and is the primary contributor to the W.

Bazz has been remarkable this season where he's not only make a slew of winning time plays to help pull out the W, but he's been hitting some key baskets at some critical points in the game to prevent the opponent from pulling away for a big lead. Bazz made some huge plays when UF had extended the lead to 2-scores or more at different points in the game. One was on a 3 and another was a pass to Giffey who knocked down a big-time 3. It just seemed like whenever UF was about to shift the momentum, Bazz would knock down a big-time shot to move the needle in our favor.

Kemba was the same way. As time goes by, I can't remember how Rip was in this regard, but he was probably similar.
