Saw this on Reddit and was surprised by what I saw. Hurley's recruitment of our own team has been exceptional this off season. Only important piece that left was Bouk, and for obviou$ reasons. He was 15.8% of our minutes. So we really only lost 5.8% of our minutes from guys that could've stayed.

Also SJU and Georgetown are screwed

Past champions:

'21 Baylor - 66.9%
'19 Virginia - 60.2%
'18 Villanova - 55.9%
'17 North Carolina - 64.4%
'16 Villanova - 58.0%
'15 Duke - 38.1%
'14 UConn- 69.6%
'13 Louisville - 55.3%

Championship teams are old and need continuity of shared experiences through adversity. UConn has that.

Doesn't suck that our new S&C coach's program was #2 on the positive list. I don't see how that can hurt.

Thanks for posting this. Recency bias dictates that if you didn’t add anyone from the portal your team inherently got worse — this couldn’t be further from the truth, especially in the case of UConn who returns the Big East DPOY and 6MOY. I was pretty disappointed to see guys like Zach Brazillier not recognize the value in that. We are in great shape heading into next year IMO

This has been the biggest thing for me all offseason in not worrying about the lack of transfer additions. I didn't realize it was 7th in the country high, but the chemistry of this team next year from game 1 is going to be a huge bonus

How is St. Bonaventure not on that list? They return every single starter.
Must only be high major conferences. Belmont, Loyola-Chicago and Richmond are other teams that come to mind w/ a lot of returning players.

St. Bonaventure's starting lineup all averaged 33+ mpg (and played 100% of their games) so right there is 83%+ continuity (plus no OT games).

I thought St John’s was primed to have a great season next season. I was eyeing them to make a nice post-season run. What happened?

Love it. Unfortunately I’m going to be worried about our lack of scorers and shooters until I see otherwise. We need to hit a respectable percentage of 3s to keep up in with the top tier in the Big East.

Same as everyone else... transfers. But they should still be pretty good especially if champagnie comes back. Picked up Mathis from Rutgers and a couple other decent transfers to go along with posh staying, who I'm a big fan of

If our returnees are there best versions of themselves, are healthy, etc., we have a chance to be very good

Why doesn't anybody want to leave the state of Indiana? That's counterintuitive....

They're likely going to have their two best and most important players back, and they are also bringing several transfers in. Soriano should be a good player for them.

Posts like this one are exactly why Chief takes the initiative and does the eye test. Bouknight’s minutes last season were greatly impacted by injury. So it’s not a good measure to how important he was to our team last season.
The most difficult thing to replace (again eye test) is a scorer who can create and shoot, especially when defenses key on him.

Makes what Kemba did in 2011 all the more special.

Yes 2011 was at 43.7%, which would be 2nd worst on this list only ahead of that one and done Duke team in 2015.
2nd worst on the list with maybe one (Oriaki?) Burger boy on the team.
