Plucking her from NWFSC just as classes were getting started isn't really in line with the spirit of the original statement of being recruited "to UConn from HS." She was already signed by NWFSC when she was recruited by UConn. Lucky for UConn NWFSC isn't an NCAA school otherwise she likely wouldn't have been available to play last season.
I don’t understand the distinction. They are saying all of our players are non transfer players. Ines isn’t a transfer just a late recruit who did come straight from high school. Unless she played at NWFSC or another school it seems to be true in spirit and technically true.

You mention a helmet for Caroline in jest, but I would like to see her fitted for a lightweight protective helmet she could wear during practice.Let's hope enjoying an entire season without a serious injury is the second unusual occurrence........I understand that Paige and Azzi have been fitted with lightweight protective leg armor while Caroline has been given a NASA approved asteroid proof space helmet in order to pull that off.......

Yes, these soft helmet covers have been around for several years at both the professional and college levels. To date they are only used in practice.Saw this being worn at a number of college football spring practice games.

I would mention that Stanford's roster is filled only with HS recruited players, but as you alluded to, the Cardinal fell victim to the portal transfer, losing 3 players, including their big prize, Lauren Betts.

They only play 2-3 times a week. She spends more time on the floor and engaged in close physical contact in practice than she would in 30-35 minutes 2-3 games.
Back in the 2012-13 season, three Louisville MBB players, who had all suffered various head injuries, began wearing MMA headgear during practices. This generated a lot of interest in using similar headgear in games. Unfortunately, after looking into the possibility, the NCAA determined that such headgear was not particularly effective and they declined to authorize its use during games.I'm serious!! I’m not sure where I’m going with this but I agree that a national championship match up will be a momentous battle for the difference between two transfer and traditional programs but I think that there may be more involved and that it may be a classic similar to the mens game of the century between Houston and UCLA because of the clash between two different culturesJust to emphasize how unique UConn’s situation is. I did a quick review of every P5 WBB program in the country. As far as next season is concerned, every single P5 program in the country has either been the victim of outgoing transfers, the beneficiary of incoming transfers, either next season or already on the roster, or both. As for non P5 programs, I didn’t do a deep dive, but it is undoubtedly the case that most of the 200+ non-P5 are under much greater transfer portal pressure than P5 schools.
Should UConn and LSU meet for the national championship it will be a momentous battle between a school that has thrived as a result of the transfer portal and one that is uniquely tied to the traditional process of bringing in HS recruits and developing their talent.
It would be an epic battle of the ages. My money would be on the little Italian guy.
Being a person that is supremely interested and concerned about the safety of ALL student-athletes, I see this from the opposite end of the spectrum. To me, If the headgear those players were wearing in practice gave them even a modicum of protection, I would have authorized them to be worn in games. The headgear in question would not affect any opposing player whatsoever, nor would it give the wearer any unfair advantage.
