UConn WBB Announces 2025-26 Non-Conference Schedule

There’s a thread tacked at the top of the board

Be nice seeing Jeff. Haven't seen him in a coon's age. Last time for me he was crying because he finally won one from the Huskies.

Out of those 13 teams, three teams slightly worry me (USC, ND, and Tennesse).

Take a look at USC and ND's rosters. I'd put them in the "don't worry about it" category and UT at home, while our toughest game, will not be that big of a hurdle. Looks like another undefeated season for Geno and crew.
I'm surprised that we were not able to get another West Coast team to play on our trip to USC---a long way to go for one game.

Why? USC will not have Juju back and without her, I see them struggling to even make the NCAA tournament. ND has Hidalgo and then after that the talent seriously drops off. Tennessee could be a challenge, but we play them at home and I think that we have more talent and depth than they do.

When does the full schedule usually come out? I'm waiting with booking my flights to the US in January in hopes of catching another game in person :)

For me, the Loyola Chicago is the only real head scratcher. Anyone know why they scheduled that one? Everyone else was too scared? Is there a personal connection?
Why does it make your head scratch? Last year's OOC schedule included such schools as Boston University, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Holy Cross.

Can anyone tell whether the Loyola game is home or away?

USC will miss Juju and even their other transfers out (K9, Avery Howell and a few others) but they still have talent with Smith and Davidson and portal transfer in London Jones. They might be a hosting school (top 16) but they will easily make the NCAAT and be a top 25 school.

So interesting enough 5 of these games will be “revenge” games as the last time we Played USC last Dec, ND last Dec. Tenn last Feb, Ohio State Mar 2023 (Seattle sweet 16 game and Iowa Mar 2024 (Final 4) we lost.

I agree that they won’t be a cupcake. I’m just not sure they’ll have much of an inside presence. Smith is a formidable player, especially on defense and the boards. But she’ll need help from a big.

It's a home game, just doesn't have which place it will be played. Most likely PeoplesBank, formally known as the XL Center.

Thanks Sarge - I was hoping it would be at Chicago so that I could take my daughter to it. We had originally planned to go to the Hall of Fame tournament at Mohegan Sun in November but no longer are able to do so.

I tend to agree with your assessment. USC’s roster is something of a mess. They are hopeful that RS-freshman Laura Williams is back and healthy from her knee surgery. The only returning player with significant experience is Kennedy Smith.

In addition to all the outbound transfers, USC graduated 3 talented starters (Iriafen, Marshall & van Oelhofen) along with backup center Akunwafu. Junior reserve guard Malia Samuels also returns. There are 3 sophomores returning who played mop up minutes this past year: Iwuchuhwu, Forestier & Shamblin.

USC has 2 incoming freshmen, Davidson who is very good and a girl from Lithuania. They also brought in 4 transfers: Jones, Mendes, Milton & Dunn. I don’t know if any are “difference makers.” UConn faced the 5’4” Jones from UCLA in the national semifinal. Her stat line - 15 minutes, 0/1, 3 turnovers, 2 fouls.

Lindsay Gottlieb will have her work cut out for her next season. If USC finishes in the middle of the pack in the Big 10 and makes it into the Big Dance it will be quite an accomplishment.
