Uconn was outscored in the final five minutes of the Louisville game

... I think by virtue of athletic ability, the womens game is more fundementally sound, but there are just so many 96-45 games that I can really get into...
So you would not have watched the original Harlem Globetrotters because they routinely manhandled the Washington Generals?

Should we be concerned? I say yes.
You missed the vital points here. This is a recurring malady that has stuck UConn in the last 5 minutes of their last three NC games ever since DT left. In 2009 the lead shrank from 23 all the way down to 22, and the next year it went catastrophically from a 15 point bulge down to 6, leading many BYers to post how dissappointed they felt about the game and how poorly UConn had represented women's college basketball.

However, you also need to focus on the more hopeful signs. In the last minute of the two NCs against Louisville, UConn was able to somehow stay even with the Cards, though they were bludgeoned by Stanford 7-5 in the 2010 game.

I don't believe there's any rule saying that players cannot don Taurasi masks for the last 5 minutes of the NC games, and I think this could help prevent future end-of-the-game meltdowns.

Isn't it obvious our bench players stink? :)

There is much nonsense posted on this board, and a lot of stuff that makes sense (sort of) only if you know some of the posters (by their posts). By and large, posters on this board take themselves MUCH less seriously than those who post on the men's board. And Husky 25 is right about the 96-45 games. There will be very few games next season, as in every season, that are really "exciting", from the point of view of doubt as to the actual winners. Watching the Husky women is different. The question is not "will they win?", in most cases, but "how close to perfection can they come, as a team?", and "how ready will they be for the post-season"? It is also one of the pleasures of the women's game (as it used to be in baseball, before the reserve clause was knocked down) to see the players come in as frosh and watch them develop, or not develop, as the case may be, something that you can no longer do in the men's "one and done" game. Following women's basketball is a totally different trip from watching men's basketball.

Incidentally, I know from reading Husky25's posts on other boards that he means exactly what he says, and that there is nothing sexist or condescending about his posts in this thread. And his is undoubtedly the majority view of women's bball. All of this imho, of course.

So you would not have watched the original Harlem Globetrotters because they routinely beat the snot out of the Washington Generals?
You're kidding right? Surely you understand that the Globetrotters are a novelty act. My parents were barely glints in my grandparents' eyes when they were considered a legitimate franchise (1920-40's).

Why don't you just compare Iowa's wrestling program to the WWE?

Personally, I think Geno needs to unload about 3 players. I mean Faris, Doty and Buck weren't real scoring threats.
I hear he's dropping them from next year's roster and their scholarships are probably kaput. The guy has no heart. Regarding us being sarcastic here - Yeah, right.

Maybe better, the Christians to the lions. Yup, that's closer, and surely not a novelty act.

The race is not always to the swift...thank goodness... ;)

As a runner, I can assure you the race does always go to the swift and the slow and steady does not win the race. Fast and steady is the way to go.

I do believe your sarcasm detector is on the fritz.

Well, clearly he doesn't understand the criteria for posting on this board!

So I need to be sexist and condescending? Thanks for letting me know. I'll keep that in mind for future reference.

Good day, Folks.

You actually got me thinking and I am going to post another thread about why I lost interest in the men's game after being a live and die fan of the celtics for years. You might find it interesting if you stop back. And, without sarcasm, thanks for stopping by. We are very proud of the women's team, and nice to have visitors from other boards, even briefly.

When I was fast I thought so, too...time to reread your Ecclesiastes...better preparation for when the wheels get rusty...

Nice avatar Biff.
