Know what you mean. Watching the #5 seed VCU guys more than doubling up on Akron in the tourney this year at 88-42 just killed my interest in the guys' tourney, along with UConn being left out. But there's just too many blow-outs, and this year they couldn't even get a real underdog like the women's #5 seed L-Ville into the NC, so just not worth watching.

There is no comparison. I don't remember watching the VCU/Akron game, considering it was a 1st rond game and there was probably a better/closer game on a different channel. I was surprised how much of the mens tournament I did watch, considering the UConn ban. I watched about 30 minutes of total game time of the Womens tournament (the final 10 vs ND, and the final half vs Louisville).

Concerning the passage that I bolded, Wichita State made the Final 4 as a 9 seed. A Butler/VCU Semi final and Butler in the NC gme clearly the exception, not the rule. I've pointed out at least a handful of times on other boards that a program from a conference that does not support FBS football, has not won the Tournament - on either side, incidently - since 1985 ('Nova and Old Dominion). A school without FBS football has not won on the men's side since 1999 (UConn). What's the connection? Resources. year in and year out, the football conferences are in abetter position to support their marginal-revenue and non-revenue generating sports.

We have had endless debates about whether a very high seed like Wichita State this year or Minnesota years back for the women is necessarily such a laudable things. What's so great about the selectors apparently being so off the mark? Point is, there's blow-outs on both sides of the WCBB and MCBB tournaments though more on women's side, but once the real action starts that the dedicated fans care about in the third round, only a very granite-headed MCBB fan keeps up with the pap about women's blow-out spectacles and predicatble results. So this year's UConn squad was dominant in the NC game. In the 2004 double championship it was the guys who blew out their opponent and the women who got a tester. Results vary from year to year.

Off to search for buddies at Boston.

Congratulations to Alex for setting off a thread with so many levels and layers of responses... I feel like I am working thru a large puff pastry while on an elevator! Primo work! And in only seven words!
Like the conclusion of the 2013 season, this thread exceeded my expectations. Kudos all around, IMO.

God speed and stay safe, Dobbs. Hope your friends are okay. Prayers for all.

<<"I thought it was Bloomfield, myself."

Keep to what you know, bro.
If'n you don't know how to play b-ball... keep OFF Blue Hills Ave.
(I assume the chain net court across from Mt Sinai hospital is still operating.... winner-takes-it-out style.)

LOL. Played a little on the court across from the old Blue Hills Elementary School (what it is now ?) at the top end of Rockwell Avenue a few years ago. Didn't know how to play then either.

? I thought it stood for Basketball For Dummies, ghost-written, of course, by the denizens of the 'yard.

Written "by the denizens of the 'yard" or for us Boneyarders?

Branford Fire Dept., of course, because of the expensive new central building they built the last two years.

I don't normally post on the Women's board. In fact this might be my first...but I need to clear this up for my own sanity.

You are concerned that the winning team of the national championship game (read: final game for a roster, as currently constituted, that will never play together again.) was outscored for the final 13% of the game? You are aware that the team build up a 30 point lead over the first 35 minutes, right?

Talk about borrowing trouble from tomorrow. Did you have money on the game?
Lighten up child, just a little end of the season humor. Or possibly WBB withdrawl ..... they show the same symptoms.

That is correct. I wrote about some races this year that seemed to go to the ones who knew the best shortcut. Being swift is nice, but being smart and ethically challenged is way better.
Ah Rosie Ruiz
