Good game overall. Yes, the offensive rebounds for Yale are a concern, but a lot of that was the defense playing well and occasionally overcommitting going for the block down low. Calhoun had a fantastic game, offensively attacked the rim and shot from downtown equally well with some nice passes sprinkled in. Giffey shot the lights out in the first half and found his defensive consistency from last year that was missing a bit in the first game. Brimah is exactly what we've been missing defensively from last year. Traditionally UConn's d has been predicated on having a defensive anchor that allows the guards to gamble a little on d and funnel anyone going towards the rim into the paint-defending 5. Brimah is that 5. Daniels lack of dominance is a little worrisome at this point but it's a confidence thing for him, once he gets going it will be fine. Boat righted the ship in the second half, liked what I saw. Bazz was Bazz. The alley oops breaking the press were nice to see as we struggled with the full court pressure against maryland in the second half. We are deep and we are good and this season will be great to watch as fans. Just my two cents on it all

He wasn't forcing anything, though -- Boat was open there. Taking that 3 would've been a good play, make or not.

Oh, I agree. Looking for the last assist for a trip-dub is very, very low on a selfishness totem pole, if registering at all. My only thought was that nobody really has to tell him about his stats and make him think about it - he's a senior, he's had them before, etc. If it wasn't in an in-game thread, where the tendency is to post instantaneous thoughts, I probably would have forgotten about it right after I read it. No biggie.

Felt like we dominated the boards in the 1st half, but i think we were even. I was half paying attention in the second half, but it seemed like a 5 minute stretch where we lost concentration and just got destroyed on the boards. Gave up 2-3 rebounds on several posessions. They got to within 11 there, but a few shots later the lead was back to 21.

I don't think upstate was equating aggressiveness and risk with the problem of these guys having no idea on how to box out and rebound.

Good win. 2 -0 beats the alternative. Rebounds will define our season. We are so deep. Ollie's challenge all year will be how to dole out minutes.

Nolan needs lots of work. Looks like a novice at times, better at others. So does Brimah. However he offers game changing shot blocking ability.

No reason to overreact to a game he only played 18 minutes early in the season -- and missed 5 wide open jumpers while other guys were on fire and deserved more shots. He's off his game right now - he'll come around.

The three rebounds in two games has to change big time, but he had 8 vs Michgan State, 9 vs Notre Dame, 10 vs Georgetown last year, etc., when the opponents were a lot better up front than the two teams we played so far. It's just a temporary malady.

We've played 2 friggin games and I know what year it is. If you don't think DD will be a stud, well you are entitled to your opinion. Lets revisit this in December.

But, I don't say that juniors need a month jump start- especially one that has so much buzz about being that high draft pick
if he was giving an effort then I say maybe a slump but there is a reason he is playing only 18 - KO doesn't like what he is seeing

He had two fouls in the first half, so he didn't get many minutes. And Giffey hit five threes in a row, so when Daniels missed his first two in the second half (one an air ball), we quickly went back to Giffey at the 16 minute mark.

Don't make it more than it is.
