What a game by Bria Hartley! 50 percent shooting fom the field and from 3-point. Seven assists, four steals against a team that doesn't turn the ball over very much. Good job!

Stef with 4 pts and 3 rebounds in 17 min.

Yeah, I think you're right. Too bad - seems like after one escapes the dog house one would work really hard not be have to go back

Very mysterious to me. I hope this doesn't define her career.
Just not many post player minutes today is my guess. Minutes for BB. KML has has some success. Finally up by 20+ although giving them a last second 3 stinks. 49-72 final Sonny
tHANKS YOU VERY MUCH; SORRY IT WASN'T THAT ENJOYABLE but my prediction was 72 - 44, not too bad.

The post play today just looked wrong, except for, of all things, some Kelly Faris action inside. Tiff any had a fine game, and Kelly was terrific as well. Interesting that Heather got in forabout a minute and came up with a steal. I know that playing time is a function of how well you do in practice, and maybe she's been stinking it up lately and thus has no earned time, but if the issue is Stef's

I'm sure Kiah could have done that well.
Maybe they're benching the wrong player [they do look a lot alike, right?].

Stef really needs to wake up. She was sleep walking today against a team with NO inside presence. And what is up with her foul line shot? She is about 3 for the season.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the fact she didn't play today. As Meghan said during the game, Geno wanted to go with the 5 guard rotation today against a small 'Nova team. Stef played only 17 minutes and Heather 1. The pressure defense of 5 guards really paid off. I expect a different look against NC and I expect Kiah will get some good minutes there.

To me, Steff looks like she has gotten out of the physical shape she got into last year. She seems slow to react and then plodding in her movements. I hear people talk about her being in good condition, but it just does not look that way to me. Her shooting does not seem to have the confidence or smoothness it had the second 1/2 of last year. I'm hoping I'm missing something, but what I see now does not seem as good as what I remember from last year. I hear (and see) that the defense is hanging on her, but there have been clear scoring openings she has not taken and wide open rebounds she has not moved on. Perhaps it is just the high post positioning that is making her seem so uncomfortable in her overall game?

Kiah seems like a really nice kid and a good athlete, if she can just get more aggressive/assertive that would help. She smiles a lot during games - probably drives a coach crazy. But then too, Tina always smiled a lot early and she turned out to be an amazing player, though very gifted athletically right from the start.

Hats of to Tiff though; 10 points straight when we needed them. Just what she [and we] needed!

Kiah Stokes was the only player not to appear for #UConnwomen and Geno said he was frustrated with her about five times.

Breanna Stewart was down near the #UConnwomen locker room with her parents talking to Geno and Chris Dailey after the Villanova game

Check this out. Box score shows nova scored 33 of its 49 on 3 pointers, Uconn scored 30 of its 72 points off of 3 pointers. Nice inside and outside balance against a very hard team to play. 100 per cent more turnovers for nova then their average . Nova will give many teams heartburn this season. They do not quit passing, limit possessions, do not foul, and can light it up from anywhere!!!! Uconn was 10 of 20 from 3 at 50 per cent for game.

Gosh, based on Stef's apparent regression to first half of last season shape and lackluster play, and with Kiah in the doghouse again, we are suddenly being transformed from having to sort out which bigs to play to not having enough that we want or can have on the floor. Maybe we better get used to seeing that 4 and 5 guard lineup?

And Heather isn't offensive enough to play? Hope all this playing time is getting her ready if we need her against Duke or Baylor. Of course, can go with Faris at center like last year against ND with Maya. Remember how that worked.
Why make Dolson into something she is not, we are going to lose what she can do. Stef is not capable of being the center of the offensive scheme any more than Jessica Moore. He has Dolson playing terrible, Heather can't get in cause she isn't offensive enough and now Kiah doesn't know how to practice.
Hmmmmmmm. Are a few bad fans causing this? I'm not the one who proclaimed Stef the 2nd best post player in WCBB early in the year - what's Geno done to her since then to cause this drop in performance ?

He must have bruised her ego by telling her she was the 2nd best center in America. Don't you see how they are collapsing on her ?
That is why we are getting more open 3's, we just have to make them

See the recent article from Rich on Stokes...it's quite obvious Geno thinks Kiah can do more....

There were two unbelievable situations in the Nova game. In one, Steff was standing 4-6' from the basket with no one in between. A rebound came off her direction and her eyes were on it. Her body did not even move - not even a delayed reaction. Another Husky had to come and get it. No movement at all. Another time she got the ball in the low post with a channel 10' wide to the hoop. She made a couple uncoordinated movements and passed the ball out rather than turning into that lane and taking what should have been an easy hoop (for Tina it would have been way too easy and cat-quick). And it's the fault of the team that they are not getting the ball to Stef where she needs it? I just don't get the disparity between what is said about her conditioning and talent by the coaches and announcers and what I'm seeing from her play in games like tonight.

Hence why you don't coach at a Div 1 level.
