UConn vs Vermont - 1/27/17 - 7pm

No offense to the sacred heart women's basketball player but why is she on the front page of the Courant's sports section while the UConn hockey win is on page 2 or 3?
I know Jacobs just wrote a piece on the team but it seems like the courant buries the coverage more often than not

If hockey had been on the front page of sports, then every story there would have been on a UConn sport, except for the Fly column. I suspect that may have played into the decision.

(Wow, a Positive comment on the courant article)

Great game. You could tell huska wanted revenge. He made some great saves. UConn now has 4 wins against ranked teams (ND, BU, UML, and UVM)

Our PK is amazing. Have killed 15 out of 16 and 7 straight.

Great crowd. It's been awhile since it was like that. Largest crowd of the season(6,297). 5th HE home attendance with 4,470. Also 5th in overall home attendance with 4,116.
Great to win this game and get more people exposed to college hockey.

Pumped to see all the youth hockey at the game. Those are some future hockey huskies right there...

Last night was a solid 60 minute effort. Combine that with the 58 minute effort vs BC, it shows what this team is capable of. With all eight of the remaining games in the regular season against the four teams that we're competing with in the middle of the Hockey East standings, now would be a great time to get on a roll.

If any not many
The vibe in the place was great lots of students, young kids
Did we steal the Wolfpack crowd?

6,297 is the 9th largest crowd since the transition to Hockey East.

Top 10 most attended games:

#1 Boston College - 11/5/14 | 8,089
#2 Boston University 11/22/14 | 7,712
#3 Boston College 11/24/15 | 7,219
#4 New Hampshire 2/20/15 | 6,887
#5 Providence 2/13/16 | 6,884
#6 UMass-Lowell 1/10/15 | 6,855
#7 Vermont 1/22/16 | 6,442
#8 UMass 1/27/15 | 6,298
#9 Vermont 1/27/17 | 6,297
#10 New Hampshire 2/26/16 | 6,254

Btw crowd and Wolf Pack don't belong in the same sentence. They couldn't sell out Frietas.

.-.
LOL. i've noticed more and more ranger/Wolfpack fans b/c of huska.
Last year, some were bashing UConn.

True, plus the their team is a dumpster fire this year , so much so they're calling for Gernander to be fired lol. That in and of it's self is sad and I feel sorry for them since they actually believe the AHL is about winning.

Bridgeport is lucky they'll have an AHL team for the foreseeable future. The AHL can easily flourish here long term.

We're going going to need both Nichols and Huska down the stretch. All of the remaining games are home and home Friday/Saturday match-ups except for the Providence games which will be a Wednesday/Friday series. The last two years, this is the time of year where Nichols heavy workload seemed to take a toll. Hopefully, having two quality goaltenders will pay dividends this year.

Well, Jacobs loves college hockey, and as a senior guy he gets his stuff placed up front. The rest of Courant sports is definitely roundball oriented. Heck, how many years has Ron Hainsey from Bolton played in the NHL? You'd think he'd get a mention once in awhile as part of their NHL coverage. But nope. There are other local NHL'ers too that do not get covered.

Great for the Huskies to get these signature wins. On any given night they can beat anyone in the nation. Just wishing for more consistency and elimination of the signature losses.

Yeah, but my whole point about attendance was actual fannies in the seats. No way there have been 8 games where more human beings were actually there.

Regardless, it was a great crowd, lets hope the students and youth hockey teams keep coming.

Hell, there was actually a wave in the crowd for like 10 seconds

Having attended all but that UMass game I can confirm you're totally wrong.

I've been to every HE game that UConn has played at the XL.
I guess we're going to agree to disagree.

I'm sure you can find photos that contradict what you're saying. Those games listed above sold out the sections above the 100's from goal line to goal line. That wasn't the case this last game vs. Vermont.
