No they're not... while UConn may not be playing it's best game, let's not exaggerate...
Really so you think that a team like Temple should be outrebounding UConn(which has a size advantage at EVERY position)?

Morgan needs to hit those open threes. She's 3-10, and Stewie is 5-12. The rest of the team is 9-12.
Morgan is shooting something like 18% from beyond the arc. The only word for that is horrible...

Actually I just looked it up. 0-3 today so now she's at 15.8%.

Gabby is the only one that makes any money for Uconn right now.

Gabby is special. Nan said she's going to terrorize opponents when she gets more experience, but I think she pretty much terrorizes them now. She's just so good and has such amazing instincts...

And right on cue, Morgan hits an open three.

Saniya is shooting confidently.

I think Kiah has 5 blocks.

The lead is 32.

Size is certainly a plus but rebounding is more about positioning and effort than size.

Ah ok. so she's 1-5 today and her % is up to 16.3! :p

She must hit them a lot in practice because if it were any other player it seems like Geno would tell her to stop with the 3 point attempts. Of course she gets open 3 point shots - she can't usually hit them.

One other thing about rebounds too - Temple has missed 15 3 point shots. More often than not those careen off the rim and shoot back out. It's easier for offense to get boards when the balls bounce far away from the hoop like that. Still, it doesn't look "great" on the stats sheet to see a team like Temple basically rebounding as strongly as UCONN...

Coville records her second double-double of the season against UConn. Congrats! Could be a record.

Yeah, I think we rebound less well on long rebounds.

 Here's a thought. Instead of calling her a "disappointing player" how about saying "she needs to work on finishing plays". Has there EVER been another UCONN player who missed a layup?
I don't think that one play makes her a "disappointment", but if she wants playing time on this team she is going to have to come in and make an immediate impact, like Kiah and Gabby do. She got the ball, made a nice head fake and then pulled up for a shot that didn't come near the rim. Probably not going to earn her more minutes anytime soon.

83-49 final. Shot 50%. But too many TOs and defensive lapses. Looked like our B- game. Ok, we're spoiled. :)

Yes, UConn should out rebound Temple (which they did), but it is just flat out not true to say that Temple was getting EVER 50-50 ball...

Gabby Williams is so good. She's just so freaking athletic and has great touch and timing around the basket. Saniya seems to have found her shooting touch again, and Kiah is just a monster. If Ekmark can come in and hit a few threes our bench would be pretty ridiculous. (more so than it already is...)

How is she in practice?
That I don't know. I'm guessing she knocks down shots in practice because she took 5 today and it's not like Geno was yelling at her to stop...

Lackluster effort on both ends...

Consistently beat off the dribble on defense and somewhat disjointed on offense. I guess it can't be easy getting up for teams in this conference, night in and night out. Hopefully they'll clean it up when it means a little something on the 9th.

Geno says: "We are creating a new statistic...most times fouling a three-point shooter."

The margin of victory was almost identical to the last time they played - UCONN scored about 10 more points but so did Temple.

saw your later post after I'd already made mine. Looks like we were thinking the same thing, namely the when something is working well in practice it should be tried in the game. Practice success is no guarantee of in-game success but it is likely the best predictor.

That's funny. I thought you were asking me and replying to my post from before LOL...

Uh, oh, Geno said that Mitchell may be the best guard the team will face. ND fans may not be happy. But then again it could be interpreted as "will face in the games ahead."

As in he doesn't think ND has much of a chance of getting in our way in the tourney?
