UConn vs MSU (Sweet 16)

Eh, I have a hard time putting stock in an exhibition where players couldn't foul out. We're not going to be able to defend with the same intensity.
The only reason nobody fouled out was because Hurley and Izzo had to agree at halftime to let players get 6. MSU shot 40 free throws and UConn 32 in that game. It was like 1030 on a tuesday night before we got out of that "game". I thought there were 3 Brain Oconnells on the court that night with the spirit of James Breeding flying around just incase he choked on his whistle

The game starts and ends with how Silas and Malachi defend Fears. We have one of the better defensive backcourts so I have some guarded (no pun intended) optimism here. They also have size on the wings which makes having Jaylen available huge.
JROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This means we win.

If anyone wants an intimate take on BM, there is a podcast on YT called benchpoints. These guys are all out in the Indiana neck of the woods, one guys apparently knows BM's uncle and talks to him all the time and has a take. Was interesting. Not posting, you can go find on your own accord.

Was it an old video? I didn't hear them even mention Mullins in the one posted today

You've posted dozens of clips of non-UConn content and you're going to have people sit through twenty episodes of some random podcast to find a take on a UConn player?

This wouldn’t be encouraged by the mods. It’s the latest, around 19:45 it starts.

Gotta clean up our unforced errors (TOs) with the ball and match their energy. Team D/help D/boards. Have to believe Tarris will be up for this game. Familiar with the opponent.
Yeah. Stop stepping on the side or end line (Mullins needs go down a size on those sneakers), stop fumbling the ball when dribbling, stop traveling (not sure if all those calls last game were correct)...did I miss any other unforced frequent turnover blunders?

Those empty trips off of unforced turnovers can be the difference between winning or losing. At least they aren't leaving many points at the line lately. Cashing in on our FTs lately has been huge for us. Just wish our better FT shooters would get to the line more often.

We all seem to agree that Mullins and Solo have not been shooting the three very well. But both seem to be really good on pull ups and shorter jump shots. But I've read on here lots of times that mid-range shots are the most inefficient shots in basketball. I don't subscribe to that theory but if you do then do you still think they both should be shooting more mid-range shots?

Mullins has a bad habit of dribbling the ball far in front of him and then trying to catch up to it. That works in high school when you're a better athlete than almost everyone you play. It gets you in a lot of trouble at this level.

It’s starting to feel like Hurley needs to flip to more of a portal recruiting system than HS. Which he may be already based on a 2 HS class and some of Moore’s comments last summer. It’s hard to pull in these types of habits and develop in a year, or develop at all.

This will be two years running their top frosh really hasn’t progressed with the season, which is a tad concerning. Is the model even built to develop? Steph was great because he’s filthy and we didn’t need him in a primary role on offense. If you are looking to feature a frosh you need to get the top top OADs, and likely more of an on ball kid.

I watched the clip. I get what he's saying conceptually but I've gotta question how much he's relying on Mullins's high school highlights for that take. It's not something that's really supported by what we've seen this season.

Those guys are idiots. Mullins doesn’t stand in the corner all game. We run our offense to try to get easy Reed looks or open 3s. Mullins is a big part of that process. He touches the ball a lot but his playmaking skills need a lot of work which is why you can’t just run everything through him. Also, he averages more FG attempts per game than Karaban and a whole 1 less than Liam did last year, who no one ever said wasn’t used enough. 🙄

Tennessee fans. Of course they think what they think. We'll see.

Do you guys know how the search function works?

You definitely used the phrase “Big East caliber athlete” when describing what he wasn’t. Find that one.

I have no idea how you came across a video from guys with 277 followers and a video with 17 views, but I will save everyone the time. It is utter nonsense. They had 2 criticisms of Mullins at UConn, both of which would be debunked if you watched 30 seconds of a UConn game
They want him to have the ball in his hands to operate, and he couldn't even dribble last game.
