UConn vs MSU (Sweet 16)

We all seem to agree that Mullins and Solo have not been shooting the three very well. But both seem to be really good on pull ups and shorter jump shots. But I've read on here lots of times that mid-range shots are the most inefficient shots in basketball. I don't subscribe to that theory but if you do then do you still think they both should be shooting more mid-range shots?
isn't the most efficient shot the one you make at a high rate? would you rather have Solo shooting 55% from 2 or 29% from 3

Despite being the favorite tonight it really seems that UConn is kinda the forgotten team in the east bracket.

I think it will come down to what Silas and Malachi maybe even Ross does defensively to Fears. If the defense can keep him from controlling the game UConn wins this.

Also think their stretch 4 will have trouble defending Alex. Alex should definitely keep doing what he did against UCLA and drive to the basket when he can run off those screens don’t settle for the jumper be aggressive.

Agree… saw Katz put us 13 in his S16 power ranking which is a JOKE

He said about 8 things that were progressively stupider than the last. Washed up and riding coattails of his past success
Yeah I also liked how amazed he was by how packed the arena was- both times. It’s a revelation that UConn fans travel well? And to Philly? Mediocre coach and now a mediocre color guy.

I personally love that we are the forgotten team on this bracket. I think Dan will use it. I expect us to be lose. I expect us to play manic D. And I expect a double digit victory for the good guys.

.-.
I said it in the other preview thread.

It comes down to Transition defense. We can’t be giving up 16+ transition points.

I almost want to sacrifice offensive rebounding and just run everyone back but Tarris on D.
MSU ranks No. 12 nationally in fast break points, averaging 16.2 points per game Michigan State University Athleticson the season (as of late in the regular season).

The Spartans are 11-1 in games where they score 15 or more fast break points, compared to 14-6 in games where they don't reach that mark

All this conversation about Fears and his groin shots- No one better than our guy Raftery to be one of the guys on the call tonight. He knows something about onions. LOL

Fwiw, UConn opened at +1.5 last Sunday. The line quickly flipped to UConn -1.5 and then -2.5. Then during most of this week it was at UConn -1.5. Today it went to -2.5.

I'd put this in the "What's wrong with Solo Ball" thread but it's locked and I didn't want to start another thread for it.

"He's got to continue to focus on defending, (not) getting lost on the defensive end, doing a better job there, doing a better job on the backboard," Hurley noted. "That'll take his mind off the shooting."

"Just like Braylon was able to get some things to happen (Sunday)," Hurley noted, "I think that's coming for Solo."

Why UConn's Dan Hurley remains confident in slumping Solo Ball: 'It's coming for Solo'

Unfortunately this is what I think is what’s wrong.

Unfortunately this is what I think is wrong. This photo was posted in CT insider yesterday. I am no D1 player or coach for that matter but his guide hand looks to be way too far forward.
