UConn vs Baylor Post Game Interviews

As always Geno's response was dead on. I also appreciate the way he uses humor.

Michelle was rather bush league bring Geno's daughter into the presser. Why not talk about an old guy who was sitting in Arizona and thought it was a wonderful no call. Probably a lot more important things to explore in a limited opportunity to ask coach a question.
That was me.

As soon as ESPN realizes they need to hype the FF games, this will go into the dustbin of history.

Already, Peck brought up how Paige was used as a trampoline (my words)
Bout to be tons of irritated people at the amount of Bueckers hype you will see over the next 5-6 days. ESPN will wear out those Big Game Bueckers bumpers coming out of commercial breaks.

This is typical Mechelle Voepel fare. She's more comfortable as a gossip columnist than as a sports journalist.

I don’t know what was going on here

I hope Paige will embrace and have fun having the target on her back. That is where a little extra channeling of DT would help.

Exactly four years ago, with seconds left, Saniya Chong dribbled into the lane and no foul was called on the Miss State defender who contested Saniya's shot. Free throws would have won that Final Four game for UConn. I do not recall Geno or Saniya whining through any post-game interviews.

"So a call is a call, and you got to live with it." Geno

He also said it clear: lots of fouls in the first half against UConn and not Baylor. How come those fouls committed by Baylor were not called.

I'll repeat what someone said earlier because I think it is worth repeating. The refs decided early on that they were going to allow contact and let the players play. For them to change the way they were calling the game with less than 5 seconds to go would have been unconscionable. I blame the media more than anyone. They did their best to create a controversy rather than report on a truly great game. Shame on them.

I think its pretty bad when one of our alumni goes on twitter and complains about the call. If you think it, you don't have to say it publicly. I'm sorry I have to say it, but just shut up Swin.
Lost a little respect for Swin and and Geno's daughter. You can say the last play was a foul, but to discredit what these ladies did for the entire game against a very very aggressive Baylor defense and many non calls that went Baylor's way is again taking away from the game and the girls who played in a great battle. Stinks that we get lost on how awesome this game was because of the many different runs.

I'm proud of the way Paigea and UCONN handled this and hope they use it as motivation. If ANYONE should be complaining from refs in this game it should be PAIGE BUCKETS.

Don’t forget this is the same play Aubrey picked a charging foul with the defender in the restricted area

yeah, that was a bad miss by the refs and announcers. She was completely in it.

DiDi missed about 12 minutes to injury. Nika missed 40 minutes.
Might I add that Aliyah Edwards missed all second quarter and ONO missed some of the 3rd and most of fourth quarter.

Probably posted elsewhere, but I found this interview uncharacteristically revealing of the the personalities and relationships of "C" and "E". E can come off as a bit too "by-the-book" or serious and dry in her interviews. I really enjoyed seeing a glimpse of her being a little less guarded. The more I get to "know her" the more confused I become about her time with Tennessee. What a great kid and teammate. Selfless on the court and off by all accounts.

What a difference in CLASS exhibited by the two Head Coaches. Mulkey zero on the class meter. Geno providing numerous compliments to Baylor as a team and to their PG.

I hope Mulkey goes back in a few days and watches her performance at the post game presser and, at the very least, calls Geno with an apology. She was an embarrassment to her school and a poor example for her players on how to handle adversity.

Baylor's Carrington discussing how she got fouled at the end. I sense a theme. :(
Just rewatching the 2nd half and carrington should have fouled out of the game in a five minute span of the third qtr holding, pushing and grabbing Paige plus a wild swing on one of paiges drive that if would have connected with paiges head would probably have knocked Paige out of the game and carrington thrown out of the game after the review. And as 4th qtr starts carrington matched up with Evina on top takes a wild swing as evina try’s to make a move hitting her in the stomach knocking evina back with no call. Carrington should have never made it anywhere near the last shot as she committed about 10 fouls. The officials in this game should be just sent home.

In this interview there are moments when Evina gives you a glimpse of a player still trying to process what just happened and where they are heading. I love this young lady and wish we had been fortunate to have her as a Husky for her whole undergraduate experience.

Couldn't agree more. This ref crew let stuff go on both sides the entire game, so to focus on the one play is wrong. If they had called it tight all game (and there would have been perhaps 20 more fouls called!), and then if they let the last play go, you would have a right to complain about inconsistency. But you can't complain if the refs were consistent, which they pretty much were.
On the other hand, there was an absolutely phantom foul called (I think on Christyn at 2:21). Rebecca Lobo was amazed at that call.
I do not believe the officials were consistent, other than consistently bad. It appeared clear to me that they called UConn for fouls that they did not call against Baylor. I won’t gripe about calls made on UConn, but you have to make the same calls v Baylor. One example, calling a foul for not allowing a shooter room to land. Called against CW but not against Richards. Consistency in what you call a block or a charge. GA’s comment about 11 foul shots for Baylor and 2 for UConn in first 1/2 apparently fell on deaf media ears.
