It has been very disappointing thus far. This pitching is unacceptable.
Yeah, but what makes this stink was it was UConn's last chance to get a win against a power 4 conference regardless who it was.Maximum bummer. But as @dbmill said, all streaks come to an end.
That is what makes it even more painful.Rutgers?
Sure to impress the B1G.That is what makes it even more painful.
But if we take care of business, we are going to get in. I see us winning the BET this year. That won’t change how sketchy the pitching has been though.Yeah, but what makes this stink was it was UConn's last chance to get a win against a power 4 conference regardless who it was.
141 runs in the 13 game winning streak. That's how they did it.I’d say it was a god awful loss, but the real question is how they lost. The question is how in the world with our pitching we won 13 straight.
he's been fantastic this year but that error by Rispoli in the 2nd was huge. Allowed 3 unerarned runs to score and gave Rutgers hope.
Peters is showing progress. Bad outing from Shaw but I would rather see that in a midweek game than a Big East game, a BET game or even an NCAA game. I was actually more perturbed by the hitting after going down 13 -9. We got away from what got us here over the last 13 games and 3 innings!
I question the rest. Friday was the most he's thrown all season. Since they are playing today, the extra day woulda helped. Pudvar has already shown to need some extra rest.Yeah, Peters is indeed showing progress. And yes, Shaw did indeed have a bad outing. Overall he has been doing pretty well of late, but a decent pitcher from time to time will have a bad game, and that certainly happened with Shaw yesterday, as he did not record an out while he was in the game yesterday. Still, I would expect him to appear in close games in the future unless he starts having bad games on a more consistent basis.
You understate the problem. A bad outing for a quality reliever is giving up 2 runs in, say, an inning and a third. It’s not giving up 5 straight walks or hits, ending with a grand slam, and giving up 5 earned runs without getting anyone out. That’s a horrific outing, and the problem with the pitching staff is far, far too high a ratio of horrific outings to bad ones.Yeah, Peters is indeed showing progress. last weekend too. They fortunately out hit their mistakes. That won't always be the case.Yeah, fielding was a bit of a problem yesterday.
