UConn v. Quinnipiac April 17th @ J.O.C @ 3p

.-.
B2 - Toppa gets on w/ single followed by Feldstein blast to left. 2-1 UConn -- no outs.

Needed that home run very badly. Keep throwing strikes and generating runs and we'll be fine today.

.-.
We keep getting gunned down at home...that is twice the past 2 games.

Still 3-1 UConn going to the 6th. Offense is still not very good.

Sigh... I need to remind myself that every game can end up being a schlit show this year.

Mid 6: A two-out, two-run single for Ben Gipson ties the game for QU, 3-3. Yahn, Susi, Toppa due up for the Huskies

Ten pitch @ bat to Gibson and a bloop single gives up the lead.

The reason we don't hold onto leads is quite simple: we never build on them.

This team just doesn't have much talent. Way below average base running, absolutely no power, not much contact hitting, average bullpen, average fielding and average speed. Our only saving grace is we have 3 future pros in our weekend pitching staff. It is nice to see Ronnie may be getting more comfortable in his weekday role.

Rossomando did well today. I would think Penders would take 6 innings from him anytime. Of course, I'm greedy, so I'll be looking for 7 innings next time.

UConn has 6 hits, 1 walk on the day. While I was driving home from work two base runners were thrown out on the bases. UConn doesn't get a ton of players on base under normal circumstances, but it really becomes difficult to score when they get removed needlessly, especially when they are already in scoring position.

Chris Jones mentioned earlier that Ryan Radue is not available today, he's got classes to go to today. Also, Aaron Hill took batting practice before the game.

By the way, Quinnipiac outfielder Liam Scafariello was originally a UConn commit before he ended up going off to junior college.

End 7: Huskies threaten with two outs in the 7th. With runners at 1st and 2nd Prato strikes out to end the frame. #UConn 3, QU 3

.-.
Aaron Hill pinch ran for LeFevre last inning. Susi is now catching, and UConn loses the Dan Hurley.

8th inning, Nepiarsky gives up a leadoff double, then manages to strand the runner on the bases. Game remains tied at 3.
