Bottom 6th, with 1 out and a runner at 1B who reached on a no out infield single, Brady Afthim comes in to relieve Sullivan.

Afthim walks the next 2 batters to load the bases. A double play ends the inning with no runs coming in. 6-2 UConn.

Top 7th, after the 2 out Morton homer, UConn loads up the bases with 2 walks and a single sandwiched in between the walks, but nothing more comes out of this 2 out rally attempt. 8-2 UConn.

Braden Quinn warming in the bullpen.

Unusual for Afthim to struggle with control. Wonder if that’s been present during fall/winter as well or if it’s just an off day for him. Either way, great day for the huskies, let’s keep it rolling!

Chris Jones saying the strike zone has shrunk lately for both teams.

Another walk makes it 8-4 UConn still with no outs. A Smith error makes it 8-5 with no out, bases loaded. Sac fly brings in a run and puts runners on the corners with 1 out, 8-6 the score.

Somehow we made it through all of last season without one of these walkathons if I’m not mistaken. A part of college baseball I guess. But, brutal.

I was expecting before this series that Ryan Hyde would catch at least one of these games against Ohio State. I suspect Freeberger can be used there in an emergency.

Good call. Our pitching staff is in better shape than theirs. 2-2 would be an ok start but if we win tomorrow, we might be in prime shape to go for the kill.
 
Suspect there is a good chance I won't be doing posts for the game tomorrow. My wife's birthday is tomorrow, and her sister invited us over for a birthday brunch/party. As usual we'll see what happens.
