UConn v. Fresno State Game Notes:

Good for him!

He's got nothing to lose in this game and whether folks want to accept it or not, he's going to have to use this game to assess what he has. He'll play it to win, but this team has not been live in two years and the coaches will be learning a lot about the talent they have.

I give us less than a 5% chance of winning this game. If the kids come out and play hard and physical and the defense holds up to some reasonable degree (hold them under 35) then we go into the HC game looking to get on track and grab some Ws where we can.

This game is a very heavy lift and outside of Clemson and maybe UCF probably our toughest test.

The "ORs" maybe a help given the heat. They have some depth on the OL if he thinks eleven can play. Think there is some on the DL too.

It’s either this or HCRE2.0 not wanting to give Fresno an idea of whose starting in order to force them to continue prepping for the possibility of both behind center.

The answer is usually both as we've seen the past half decade.

They will be wearing the husky helmet for 4 games this year. The rest will be the block C.
I like it. Is there any word on the Grey alternatives with the chrome helmets? Those were dope.

Nothing sudden about it for me……..
Was aimed at those who who are critical of the realists on this board. Not you.

But it does really hit you when you put both two-deeps side by side. All the Sr's and Jr's on one side, all the Fr's and So's on the other. And the realization that the other guys had a free year too. Just because they played instead of lifted and practiced without playing, doesn't mean they went backward. They went forward at least as much as UConn, maybe more with the added game experience.

Dry heat in the "valley".
We were in Sonoma and Sacramento two weeks ago and it was 104ish and not as uncomfortable as 85 with East coast humidity, but still.........in football uniforms it could tire our guys out faster.

Wait...so Edsall really said "bunghole"?

might be the understatement of the year suggesting playing actual games, reviewing actual game film and adapting/learning from that is advantageous to practicing against fellow competitors of a 2-win team.

Red shirt sophomores are 4th year guys. Closer than many think.

What would be the difference for Fresno to prep between the 2? Just asking since I'm not sure what the difference would be other than one of them has "IT".
Maybe Van DeMark can explain it to you.

Current Fresno forecast a/o 2:15pm ET (8/26): Kickoff about 85 to approx 95 by mid-afternoon.
If so, not as stifling hot as the upper 90s forecasted for Fresno's late afternoon.
Kick it off, pull off an upset, and hop back on the plane eastbound. Go UConn!

The real benefits of the year off might not be totally felt for another season or two when guys who would’ve already graduated are still here playing - guys that were (relatively speaking) too good to redshirt but basically got one anyway.

To each their own how their body reacts to different weather conditions, but Fresno is much different than Sonoma and a bit worse than Sacramento.

And having been out there in Saturday's expected conditions, east coast 85 and summer humidity is a walk in the park.

Not disagreeing with you. Just look at the two deep. The benefit will be in 2022-2024 when these kids are RS juniors and seniors. And that will have no effect on Saturday's score.
