Bottom 5th, Ellisen starts the inning still on the mound. Ellisen with a scoreless inning after issuing a 1 out walk. 7-2 UConn. Ellisen doing well out of the pen so far today.

Fogell was warming up that inning.
 
Top 6th, with 2 runners on base (Smith reached base on an infield error), Huber with a 1 out rbi single. 8-2 UConn, with runners at the corners. A 1 out Studley walk loads the bases again for the Huskies, but no more runs come in that inning.

Defensive moves for UConn, Brini goes to the outfield, Smith moves to 2B replacing Daniels.

Bottom 6th, Ellisen faces the minimum after giving up a leadoff walk and getting a double play. 8-2 UConn.
 
Bottom 7th, Ellisen still on the mound. Ellisen was stretched out for a possible starting pitcher role in the preseason from what I recall.

Bottom 7th, a leadoff infield single gives FAU a baserunner to start the inning. Ellisen comes out of the game, Fogell coming in to pitch.

Chris Jones mentioned earlier that Coe as one of the guys available to pitch today out of the pen.
 
Top 8th, UConn loads the bases with 2 outs. Before getting the bases loaded, during the inning leadoff hitter Morton was thrown out on a base running mistake. No runs come in during the inning, 8-2 UConn.
 
Bottom 8th, Fogell strikes out the first batter, then is taken out of the game. Brady Afthim comes in to pitch.

Garrett Coe is warming up, Chris Jones speculating he will finish up the game after Afthim is done.
 
The difference between these two teams is defense. Both teams have pitched well with a slight edge to us, and neither offense has been amazing. We’ve been able to make all sorts of plays, and they have not.

8-2 going to the 9th.
 
Bottom 8th, after giving out a 1 out double, Afthim strands the runner, getting a strikeout for the third out. 8-2 UConn.

It's quite possible that UConn will end up with a rather deep pitching staff as the season progresses from what we've seen so far. We'll see what happens.
 
Top 9th, a scoreless inning for the UConn offense. 8-2 UConn. Smith with a 2 out walk and a stolen base, Smith has not yet been thrown out trying to steal this season, he has 7 stolen bases so far this season.

Freshman Jude Abbadessa to start the bottom of the 9th on the mound.
 
Jones with the jose cruz reference! Wish my rice owls had a commentator like Jonesy.

Coe walks the first batter he faces, but then comes up with a scoreless inning leaving runners on the corners retiring the next 3 batters. 8-2 UConn, the Huskies get the sweep of the series!
