UConn v Creighton - Make your bets.

Because you don't matter anymore?

(Honestly, I'd love to hear the backstory of who threatened you and why? That has to be hysterical.)

LOL. Like anyone here matters. Good one.

One of them was a Yarder. Not sure if they’re still around at all or not but over a period of time it got more and more personal then went to DMs. It was keyboard muscles more than anything but we had met in person before so we knew who each other were.

Another one was a fan from the PC board. This was a long time ago. Like early 2000’s. That was a direct physical threat that sounded a little mental and I actually had to report. It was more than “I’m gonna kick your ___ if I ever see you” type stuff.

You don't believe in the mojo, therefore nothing you do impacts the mojo. That's Mojo Rule 1.

I think it's hysterical that a PC fan threatened you. I mean you did go to their board and mock them unrelentingly. It's kind of proof of just how much you were in their heads. UConn Twitter has kind of taken over for you. They are unrelenting about going after PC fans.

I actually got a threatening DM one time on the BY as well. Believe it or not it was over on the woman's board. Somebody said something supporting Pat Summit and I said something like "How do we know you aren't Pat Summit?" He called me out in an DM and wanted to fight me at halftime of a woman's game. I laughed at him and said "What are you a fifth grader? You're actually calling me out at recess?" We did end up meeting at halftime at a woman's game and laughed about it.

It cracks me up how angry some people get about the BY. There was one poster on the men's board who actually trashed his own apartment over stuff that was being said on The Boneyard.

We have Conference Realignment Rule 1, and Mojo Rule 1. Here's Boneyard Rule 1 - "If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong."

UConn wins but doesn't cover the spread.

Same ole, same ole for UConn in road BE games. Get the win, don't cover the spread.

Inconsistent FT shooting in last 90 seconds let's Creighton creep closer with a back door beat.

78-74.

Over the last 30 years or so of these various Yard boards, I’ve probably met 120-130 people in person. Including myself, you’ll never see a bigger group of fatso nerd social misfits. I have never met a single person that I would ever be physically intimidated by.

@Deepster, your all right,

I won’t be at that game but I have Gampel tickets and I’ll be at the BET. Any time you want. I can tell you some stories from the past for sure.

Odds are it’s the guy who’s gotten into 75 fights or whatever it was.

Edit- @uconnblueinky ?

Honestly, I'm eyeing Creighton +300. I don't expect to win and certainly don't want to win that bet, but I feel like we're not 75% likely to win this game.

I'll probably also live-bet Creighton +11.5 or so if we get an early lead.

I don't like betting lines around 7.5 because it's very easy for a 2-point game to become 8 in the final minute.

Another combined big game by our centers. No Kalk patrolling the middle wreaking havoc.
Pound it inside along with taking advantage of taking it to the rim when penetration and lanes open up.

Another win, no cover. Apparently many out of state degenerates on these threads able to bet. Us in CT a no go, unless you drive over the border with the FanDuel/DK apps.

So far, in a thread asking for your wager on the spread, only 2 people have actually kind of made a pick.

So much for that “edge”.
Totally agree with this. I didn’t make a “bet” because I have absolutely no idea of what this team is going to do. No idea. But Deep, this is a great thread idea and you should post it for every game. YOU PICK THE SCORE . Make people declare. Declare. Me, I have no idea, so I’m not going to participate because I admit, I just don’t know. Tonight, Creighton, surprised me. This is what I think the team is capable every night, but we haven’t been seeing it. But this is what this team is capable of. Post this every game please. Let’s see if anyone had any idea.

43% from the FT line. It's going to cost them.

O.K. just had to start something for the naysayers to complain about. Lol
Actually, not getting to the free throw line is the team's lone unaddressed vulnerability after Saturday night's game.

Okay. So following this team closely gives us an edge when it comes to betting on their games. Right?

Well, here are all the predictions from this thread and the "Uconn -6.5" thread. I didn't pick and choose, I'm just listing everyone who made a prediction:

Can we agree that the "I follow the team so I will win more than usual betting on them" is hogwash? Not a single person had it pegged. 3 people had them to cover but no one had an easy win and 6 posters had them not covering.

Great work Deep. Point proven. I did not enter the poll because I truly have no idea. I would not have guessed at this outcome in one Million years. Not with this team.

The spread was a bit of a sucker bet for all the obvious reason, all of us waiting for their coming out game.

Everyone who said had an edge as a fan? They were 100/% wrong.
No, we weren't. As I said earlier, anyone that REALLY knows this team knows that this is when they pull out of their funk. They did the exact same thing in 2023 at almost the exact same time. I won every bet I placed for them to fall short of the spread in the last month or so. I didn't touch this game because I knew the chances were high that this could happen. If they follow the pattern, they will be inconsistent (against the spread) for the next week or two. I am not touching these games. Then they will slowly stabilize for another week or two and be close to the spread. Then the bet will be for them to beat the spread after that.

Well, you’re the one genius that’s cracked the code! Congrats!!!

Or, maybe, you are the only one that didn't! 🤔 Just kidding! That is definitely not true. But, yes, genius is quite rare. However, there might be one or two others around here that see the same thing. 😁

And as I said in another thread, no one here is winning over a 52-53% clip betting on UConn over time. As evidenced by the 6 incorrect vs 3 correct picks in this thread.

Everyone talks about their wins and not their losses. If you went by word of mouth you would think everyone who bets on games wins, they don't. Just about everyone loses.

Good thing I don't bet UConn as a favorite.

But anyone who has bet against UConn and the spread all season would be well off so far.

UConn is 8-14 ATS this year.

Well, I don't think you can base your conclusion on one game where we exceeded every prediction model and Vegas by 3 or 4 fold. It's not like you are betting everything every time on one game.

But I also agree there aren't many making money over an extended period of time (years, not weeks). You actually need to be over 55% correct when you figure in the vig. You will lose money at 52-53%.

It's one of the reasons Vegas has enormous elaborate resorts (though I'm pretty sure they make most of their money on slots) and Draft Kings can advertise a billion times a month and not go out of business.

Also, if you are going to bet on such things, it's best to have the most information available and folks who follow UConn closely may have a little advantage over time rather than betting other teams and leagues where the understanding isn't as deep (so to speak).
