Wow, we are absolutely relentless, with a great killer instinct to go after people when they're sitting back and their skates

Went last night, had to follow via the BY tonight. While it is only one weekend against an "also receiving votes" team, there is a distinctly different feel than last year. What jumps out at me is relentlessness and team speed.

We also have a much improved PP. I saw a lot good. Let's see how we do against HC at XL next week and then the rubber really meets the road in two weeks. But, good for Cavanaugh and his staff. He had them ready to go!

Impressive performance this weekend. Did not have the energy in the first period but turned it around in the second. I thought Colgate would give UConn more problems. Colgate is a decent team but they have a suspect goaltender situation.

The freshmen give the lineup much more scoring depth.

Shahan is a player. The hit against UConn’s bench and then gets the pass for the breakaway. He’s got speed. Definitely one to watch.

Much better feeling with this group than last season. They are not as big as last season but are definitely not shying away from contact.

Next up a home and home with Holy Cross next weekend. Holy Cross swept UConn last season.

I noticed Peruzzi was not behind the bench this weekend. Must be out recruiting.

Went to the game, as mentioned speed and hard skating by all. And correct me if I'm wrong not a single major we had to kill? Back to back games and no major?
Lot easier to win that way.
The pass by one of our defenders to the forward on the breakaway was NHL- level perfection

No majors. That pass was exquisite. A real thing of beauty to witness in person.

It's probably too early to say, but how much of the results of the first two games were a statement of how good we are versus a statement of where Colgate is at this point in the season?

Two decisive wins to start the season is a good thing, I'm just not sure how much to make of it.

I was away this weekend (won't book a vacation again in early October). thanks to everyone for the updates. I could follow along on the Boneyard. Much appreciated. Can't wait to see this team.

Fair point but good teams take care of teams like Colgate (provided Colgate isn't that good).
So either way, a good sign. I could easily see us splitting last year or if we win 2, barely hanging on in one of the games.

Speed is good. Let’s see how we fare against the dump and chase big boys of HE.

Let’s hope. I have thought we were very slow as a team the past 2 years. Last season it was particularly evident especially against better teams but really almost everybody. That was a huge problem. Only the 8-9-10 line looked to have any ability to skate with other Hockey East clubs. An upgrade in speed was my biggest concern for the off season.

How did the goalie look? I know he gave up a soft one in game 1. Did he settle down?

He did, although several of his saves rebounded to his front. Those blocks need to be directed sideways, out of harm’s way.

They hit a couple of posts in game 2 (couldn't tell if they were outside posts or legit beat him, but he did make a couple of really nice saves
